Oh, cut the patronizing crap, Mr. Prince... you have always had a chip on your shoulder w.r.t. SSI and his special relationship with your family. God knows why. It's evident from your various public statements as well as that article on the Navaratri Mandapam wherein you made totally unwarranted snide references to "the musician who came disguised to the temple steps during GNB's concert". You may or may not like Semmangudi, but let us not forget that it was mainly due to his efforts that your noble ancestor broke away from the ranks of the 'also-rans' and reached a stage where he is now placed almost on par with the Trinity. No one in the Carnatic firmament outside of Trivandrum cared two hoots about ST until Semmangudi single-handedly popularized his kritis. Mr. BMK's distaste for ST was well known... if you have succeeded in bringing him round to the point where he retunes a Swati kriti in your name, well done, and leave it at that. Leave the potshots at home, thank you very much!
Unfortunate that my very first post on Rasikas.org is going to be in response to a negative comment, nevertheless....being silent at these kind of snide remarks is like aiding them and thus my first post.
Gopalank, I am sure that your verbal attack on Musique4ever (Mr. Rama Varma), only goes to confirm for a fact that public forums are indeed one of the most unhealthy places for sane and civil people to be in, thanks to the many like you that speak their mind out in the most distasteful manner.
You may have a different opinion and irrespective of whether there is any legitimacy in what you say (which may offer scope for another debate altogether), there is always a milder, better, nicer, respectful way to address the subject, other than the terminology you have indulged in.
I don't think Carnatic Music or for that matter, Music, ought to inspire aggressiveness targeted at a personal level. AND, if you think differently to what I have just now said, I can only assume that you are not a true Rasika.
I certainly lack the technical know-how about Carnatic Music that Prince Rama Varma and many others in this forum possess, however, as a true and staunch lover of Music (of all kinds), I can certainly say one thing for sure - that you have a long way to go before you learn to appreciate true music in the real sense of the word,
appreciation.
Rasikas.org, I do hope that the Administrators at Rasikas.org will take this experience into consideration and chart a few rules so that henceforth we are not faced with this kind of personal aggression.
Musique4ever, we look forward to your wonderful videos, as always!! Keep up the Good Work.
