Here is a rough version of the original song which was put together by Kalamamani Dr Saraswathi (who is associated with Dr Balamuralikrishna)
A friend of mine performed it recently but it was done entirely in Desh instead of a ragamalika. Contact me if you are interested in hearing this version.

MBK,
Do you need the original song? Or just the notations?
This is the cassette/CD where Neeraja has sung the song (rAgamAlikA version) under the music direction of Sri. M. Balamuralikrishna:

Mohan,
Is the composer, Sri M. Balamuralikrishna?

Thanks rshankar.
I do have the original. I just needed the lyrics. My wife will perform this piece shortly & I will sing for her....& it is difficult to get the correct lyrics from the cassette.
I must thank you all .... learning & performing new pieces in my kutcheris & dance recitals is so much more enhanced having acquaintenaces such as you all. Apart from the ever ready assistance to provide the requested lyrics at lightning speed
, your opininons go a long way to enhance my concerts.
God bless you all on this Mahashivarathri.

Here is a quick overall translation:
1. Listening to the flute melody of Govindan (Krishna) the cows stopped grazing.
2. The chirping birds left their nests. The bees stopped sucking the nectar (tEn) in the flowers.
3. The girls (gOpis) upon hearing Krishna's flute melody were enthralled (with pleasure--literally immersed in the sea of happiness) and fell in love with Krishna wandering around and looking for him.
I think the two words in the caraNam are: kaTTilA (?) and maTTilA (?).

I think it is kaTTiLa mangaiyar as in kaTTu + iLa + mangaiyar => youthful ladies with vigour. See http://dsal.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/romadi ... =tamil-lex where first word is kaTTiLamai

btw, maTTu means measure/quantity,proportion - pl. see http://dsal.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/romadi ... =tamil-lex
so maTTilA Anandam - boundless joy.

maTTu also means daming something...so this is aNai kaTTamuDiyAda Anandam...same meaning...
Reminds me of the famous song from vanjikOTTai vAlibhan - kaNNum kaNNum kalandu - where character played by Padmini says/sings: 'Aru perugivarin aNai kaTTalAgum, anbin pAdayil taDai iDalAmO? pEdamayAlE, madE ippozhudE kAdalai venriDa kanavu kANAdE!'

ok. I thought at binding water in a sea is not something you hear often (unless may be in middle-east nowadays
). But both interpretations are probably the same thing anyway i.e. since damming as a way of containing or say measuring, then as you say uncontained => boundless).
Btw, I checked a few dictionaries (one at home, and couple online)/ i could not find dam associated with maTTu. but i will take your word for it - they are probably not the most comprehensive ones.

As stated elsewhere I am a late visitor due to my pre occupations as such I may not be of timely help to persons like MBK. However, the version, learnt by my sister in 1957, is provided below for the use of those who need in future. The piece is not composed either by BMK or Saraswathi as it existed even before 1957.

Couple of comments.
1. In kutty's version there are too many "maRandana"--especially with the birds "tuRandana" (deserted) fits better (kUviDum kuyilinangaL kUTTait tuRandana reads better)
2. The third caraNam in kutty's version reads much better meaning-wise compared to the only caraNam given earlier. Once the gOpis found KaNNan there is no need to search (tEDi) for him again (the only caraNam mentions "tEDi")
