Lyrics and translation for Samayamide Kadura
Hi All -
Looking for lyrics and translation for this piece.
Samayamide Kadura (or Gathura)
mayamalava gowla
Loose translation is that the nayika says to her lover - "this is not the right time to come, my husband is asleep...people will wake up...the moon is shining much too bright..." etc...
Also do you know any other padams like this - where the nayika is saying this is not the right time...I know of sarasamulade denduko in kaapi....do you know of similar light hearted ones?
Much thanks for your expertise in advance!

Re: Lyrics and translation for Samayamide Kadura
I think there is a typo in the name of the javali you need.
It is ::samayamide rA rA’. The word ‘Gathura’ does not exist in telugu.
The ragam is Behag, but you have mentioned Mayamalavagoula.
Are you sure this is the one you need?
The behag javali is a compositon of Sri Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer.

Yes. There is a javali composed by Sri Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer::
‘samayamidi gAdurA’, set to Raga::Mayamalavagoula.
Hope SrI Lakshmanji will provide the lyrics.
‘samayamide rArA’ in Raga Behag is also composed by Sri Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer.

My Lord,this is not the time to speak with me[p]
Why do you not honour my words with presence of mind[ap]
[as] The moonlight, as bright as daylight,has spread and settled,
[being] a married woman, I have restrictions at home now.[c1]
Is He not scared that any of the neighbours may observe Him?
venkaTESha, My lord, my salutations to you.[c2]

Rewritten with corrections::
My Lord,this is not the time to speak with me[p]
Why do you not honour my words with presence of mind[ap]
saying that the moonlight is as bright as daylight and has spread and settled
he who has tied the taali [husband] is such a hindrance at home now.[c1]
Is he not afraid that any of the neighbours may observe him?
venkaTESha, My lord, my salutations to you.[c2]
rshankar Ji,
Thank you

Re: Lyrics and translation for Samayamide Kadura
Please note a few changes in the lyric. This javali is by Patnam Subrahmanyayyar. Savitri avare, boTTu gaTTinavADinta fits better with your second interpretation, i.e. 'My husbanding is barring me from stepping out'. Lovely jAvaLi.
