Cool,
That was a delightful morsel of a kalyAni from Vijay Siva. First time I have heard nambik keTTavarilavO prefaced. Only regret was that we could not get to hear a neraval at garuda gamana Sri purandara...

The rAgA kalyANI goes with jhampa tALA and ranjani is paired with Adi tALA.

Cool,
Such a shaNmukhapriya to start Sani vAra (saturday) with! Thanks. to ears used to tilang (very good too), this is refreshing. The AlApane flows into the song and the neraval to highlight the sAhitya.

Its disappointing that Coolji has deleted all the song postings and that
really has taken away the core of this thread which he so painstackingly
nurtured. Lost his 'Cool'??? Wish he had spared them for posterity.
Paradoxically he once noted ' Naanu Nannudu Embo Narakadolege Biddhu'
(in Innu daya Baradhe ) as one of his most favourite.

Yes, it is really appalling that Cool ji removed all the links. I don't know why!

I downloaded most of the songs from this thread. If any one needs any song specifically, please tell me. I will try to re-upload it.
What is appalling in this? It is his/her wish being the author and the author is entitled for that freedom and independence!

Sure you didn't want to offend coolkani, but your choice of the word did convey such a meaning to me also. May be you could have used the word "saddened" instead of "appalled".

What rajumds is saying on behalf of many of us is that however much disappointed one might be, one does not forget all the bounty that Cool has brought to the forum over the years...

srinivasrgvn wrote:musicfan_4201, you did not understand my usage of the word.
Refer to this entry from thesarus.reference.com and you will find some of the synonyms for the word:

Main Entry: appall
Part of Speech: verb
Definition: horrify

Synonyms:
alarm, amaze, astound, awe, daunt, etc.

What I meant to say was that it horrified or alarmed or amazed or astounded or awed me!
I did not use the word to offend Cool ji in any way. I was just sad and amazed that he removed it. It is my personal feeling and has no reference to Coolkarni. I have completely friendly relations with him and never blame him for what he did.

And, I need not know from you that it is the freedom of the author to remove his links. I very well know that.
It is a right word in a wrong context which distorted your intention :)

Sreeni - very elegant lyrics!! A sort of maNipravALam - with kannaDa in the last lines of the caraNa.

rshankar,

In kannaDa, there is no such concept called maNipravALa -because most of the words that are used are sama-samskRta - meaning they are and can be used in Kannada as they are without any modifications. All such compositions are best called as a kannaDa compositions. Same goes to all HMB compositions where a word or two (generally the verb) is in Kannada/.

Those who are looking at this thread may want to go to the Vaggeyakaras Section and listen to our Dr. Shrikaanth's lovely compositions. Dr. Satyavathi has sung them.
The musicians who live in Karnataka can listen, learn, and sing in sankEti too!
