Search Sruti Magazine Archives is a new featured added on sruti site recently. Seems to be an useful feature added. Search result displays extract from the book with an option to buy the book.

That site doesn't seem to be loading. I can access the normal Sruti magazine site but not the search page.

The site uses port number 8080

if you tried accessing from work, the firewall might have blocked the access

That's baffled me!

Anyone know how to do that in Zone Alarm?

It's a long time since I did any firewall work.

I think they must be wanting very few visitors?

Hi Nick,
I have not used zonealarm but found this link http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutoria ... al128.html
thought it might be useful to you.

Hello Nick & Mohan,

The port 8080 issue is resolved, now it is working of the regular web port. visit www.sruti.com and enjoy the search feature.

Look forward to your comments

sudhakarks, has Kalakendra/Swathi Soft taken over the Sruti web site? If so, could you fix Sruti's dismally broken online subscription page (or simply offer Sruti subscriptions at the Kalakendra web site)?

Thanks a lot - the search feature is a indeed a boon to researchers wanting to trawl through the golden collection of past Sruti articles.

Hello Gn.sn42,

Could you please let me know what you feel is broken on sruti website for subscription? Will try my best to address our concern on this.

Thanks,

Sudhakar

sudhakarks, I don't mean to turn this thread into a technical-support line. I have tried many times to use the Sruti online subscription page, and have gotten a variety of errors, ranging from SQL errors to timeouts with CCAvenue. Sruti's reaction, unfortunately, is that there is no problem, so I've given up. At this point, I'm not willing to go through another round of there's-no-problem-at-this-end-you-must-be-doing-something-wrong, and certainly not on a public forum.

In contrast to Sruti, the Kalakendra store works very well, and I'm a happy customer there. When I saw you posting about Sruti, I wondered if Kalakendra has taken over Sruti and if that meant a change to the Sruti subscription page.

By the way, that is still my question: has Kalakendra taken over Sruti?

Sorry I can't (won't) help more; but if you wish to find out, a few tests on the Sruti site should show you the problems. In my opinion, the simplest option is to offer Sruti subscriptions at the Kalakendra store.

Hi gn.sn42

No we have not taken over sruti, we just manage sruti website.

We have been managing sruti website for over 2 years now. It runs on the same platform as kalakendra.com
kalakendra.com offers paypal as another payment gateway. Not sure about the exact nature of problem, if you can send screen shot of errors will try to trouble shoot. Alternatively if you can let me know how many years susbscription you are interested in and your address can ask Sruti to send you an email invoice which you can pay online through CCAvenue.

sudhakarks, thanks, I will follow up directly with Sruti re my specific problems. I posted here just to find out if there has been any major change in the Sruti payment infrastructure. It looks like there hasn't - sorry for taking up forum space for what appears to be an individual thing.
