That's right vs_manjunath, seven Sanskrit keertans of saint poet, Tallapaka Annamacharya, will be sung by Lata Maganeshkar and made available to the general public. This initiative by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is to popularize the keertans (bhajans) of Tallapaka Annamacharya around the world. The songs of Annamacharya extol the glory of Lord Venkateswara.
The songs Lata Mangeshkar would be singing are
* Evam darshayasi
* Tavamam drastam
* Tvameva sharanam
* Dasavidhacharanam
* Prudul hema kaupina dharaha
* Majahihi dsthamanayiti
* Madrushanam.
The music for these songs will be given by Sabarigirish, a music lecturer in Sri Venkateswara Music and Dance College and will be compiled by Dr Vibhishana Sharma, the station manager of community radio project of TTD.
Times of India reports:
"Interestingly, though Lata was the ‘aasthana gayani', of TTD during 1960s, she did not sing any songs of Annamayya. However, M S Subbulakshmi, who succeeded her, had recorded some of the keertans of the saint poet.
TTD executive officer (EO) K V Ramanachary said that though many top singers had sung Annamacharya keertans, the seven Sanskrit keertans which Lata Mangeshkar would be rendering are unique and are meant not only for the Indian audience but also for global connoisseurs.
Dr Vibhishana Sharma said, These songs were in carnatic ragas like Dhanyasi, Kamboji, Kannadagowla, Kedaragowla, Paadi, Samantham and Mukhari. But we have tuned it in Hindustani ragas as Maand, Purvi, Shankar, Desh, Mohan, Yamankalyani, Subhapantuvarali, respectively for ease and for the advantage of global audience."

For that matter,earlier last month, a mass singing of seven sankirtans of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya was held at Hyderabad. More than 150,000 participated in the ‘Annamayya Laksha Gala Sankeerthana’ at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad (Hyderabad) in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, May 10, 2009 to create Guinness World Record for Mass Choir. The last such record was made in 1937 when 60,000 people participated in a mass choir of a single song in Germany. The disciplined crowd of 150,000 sang seven compositions of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya. From the afternoon itself, people started pouring into the grounds. From children and youngsters to the aged, they came from various parts of the country and the world. More than creating a record, their sheer passion for Annamacharya brought them to the venue. For several weeks they had been practicing the seven sankirtans.
Noted Annamayya sankirtana exponent Garimella Balakrishna Prasad led the mass singing, while Abhinava Vaggeyakara Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna and a host of others, the who’s who in the Carnatic music and Telugu film industry, lent their voice.
After seeking the blessings of Lord Venkateswara, Prasad invoked the blessings of the saint-composer whose 602nd birth anniversary marked the event.
Starting with `Bhaavamulona, Bahyamunandunu Govinda’ the musicians and singers rendered `Brahma Kadigina Padamu’ (Mukhari raagam, set to Adi taalam), `Entamatramuna Evvaru Thalachina’ (Mayamalava Gowla, Misra Chaapu talam), `Podugantimayya mimmu’ (Mohana, Adi Talam), `Kondalalo Nelakonna Koneti Rayudu Vaadu’ (Hindolam, Adi talam), `Narayante Namo Namo’ (Behag, Adi Talam) and concluded the extravagnaza with `Muddugare yashoda’.
Such a performance it was! An absolute treat to the eyes and the ears!

....
Tallapaka village is in Rajampet mandal of Cuddapah district, about 3 km from Cuddapah town.
At one place you are stating Tallapaka is 58.8 kms from cudappah and in another place you state it is 3 kms .Needs correction.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

From the TOI article cited:
"These songs were in carnatic ragas like Dhanyasi, Kamboji, Kannadagowla, Kedaragowla, Paadi, Samantham and Mukhari. But we have tuned it in Hindustani ragas as Maand, Purvi, Shankar, Desh, Mohan, Yamankalyani, Subhapantuvarali, respectively for ease and for the advantage of global audience."
Hmm, wonder why HM ragas have global acceptance while CM ones don't! And who decided this is the case?
Another case of biased views?
