On October 19, Shruti Laya will be presenting a special treat: A Chitraveena recital by the Maestro Sri. Ravikiran. Ravikiran needs no introduction to this elite audience. But in addition to featuring this erstwhile child prodigy, Shruti Laya will also showcase our own young artists in this concert!

Sri. Ravikiran will be accompanied on the violin by Chi. Suhas Rao. A student of Smt.A.Kanyakumari and all of 17 years old, Suhas Rao has won many awards and prizes in major contests in the USA , performed throughout the US and in India, both solo and accompanying the likes of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr R K Srikantan, Chitravina N Ravikiran, Carnatica Brothers and Prof. Radha Venkatachalam.

On the Mridangam will be another young star Chi. Rajna Swaminathan, also 17 years old. A disciple of Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman, she has toured the US with her illustrious Guru and performed in several high profile venues and accompanied many top artists including N.Ramani, Rudrapatnam Brothers, Carnatica Brothers and Sikkil Gurucharan.

And on the Kanjeera will be yet another young star, Akshay Ananthapadmanabhan. Akshay is in his third year studying Electrical Engineering. A mridangam and kanjira student of Prof. T.H.Subash Chandran, Akshay has accompanied top notch artists such as O.S.Thyagarajan, Chitravina N Ravikiran and Sikkil Gurucharan. He has performed for the last four music seasons in Chennai, including at the prestigious Music Academy.

This is a must-see concert for all families with children learning Carnatic music. Bring them to be inspired by this show of young talent, and show them how far they can go!
