I heard this song sung by Sri. Udayaloor Kalyanarama Bhagavathar in his Sampradaya Bhajan programme at a local temple festival.

I cannot satisfy 100% of the requests. Sometimes I am stumped too. This is one of those times. If I locate the lyrics I will post them.

This song used to be sung by Thiruvaiyaru Nagaraja Bhagavathar. The song describes each of the lighted wicks in a lamp and how they represent Lord Vishnu. Traditionally sung during the Divyanamam part of a bhajan. I will try to post the link the song shortly and they maybe Lakshman ji will be able to decipher the exact lyrics. I will be posting 2 files - one of the song itself and the other with Sri Udaiyalur's explanation of the song.

Here's the song. http://vilangudi.googlepages.com/Omkara.mp3

Here's the explanation. http://vilangudi.googlepages.com/Omkara-Explanation.mp3

Audio quality is not too good as this is the best my HTC Touch could manage ;-)

The lyrics of this song, a devotional master-piece, had been taken out of an audio recording of this song, sung by Sri. Udayaloor KR Bhagavatar in a recent Bhajan programme. The clarity of sound again is not so clear due to poor recording and hence the lyrics taken down by me may need corrections.
The link is http://www.mediafire.com/?ozi9k0gt1t2

Please post the meaning of this song. Thanks

The song is in Sanskrit and some experts may please correct it for any mistakes/grammer. The song is sung in the Madhyama Sruti, Adi Talam. I feel this song is sung in rag ' Piloo ' or Misra Piloo. Please confirm the raga. Thanks

Ragam: (Piloo) Talam: Adi.

omkaara jyotirmayaya, upanishad svaprakaasaaya
uchitaatmAnanda bhavaaya, Om namO sri nArAyaNaaya.

hreemkara madhyastitaaya, ihapara sukhapradaaya
hita vaatsalya dEsikaaya, yehi namO sri nArAyaNaaya.

nirvikaara banda haraaya, nikhilaloka sukhapradaaya
nijaroopa tatva bOdhaaya, dEhi namO nArAyaNaaya.

sachidAnanda mayaaya, sarva kaarya saakshi bootaaya
saadhu hruddhara sarasaaya, sadA namO nArAyaNaaya.

bhakti lubdha sri dAmodharaaya, prapanchayika sutrakaraaya,
bhava jaladi taarakaaya, pahi namO sri nArAyaNaaya.

apaara jooda karaaya, aparimita guna gaNaaya
avivEka braamthi karaaya, harE namO srI nArAyaNaaya.

I have the following doubts on some of the words in the song.

i) in Line No.3 is it 'Madhyastitaya' or madhya smitaya
ii) in line No.4 is it ' hita ' or 'mita' or ' smita '. I feel 'hita' should be the correctone.
iii) in line No.6 is it 'yehi namo' or ' dehi namo ' (Since 'yehi namo' had come in the previous stanza (line 4) it can be 'dehi namo' here in this stanza)
iv) in line No.8 is it 'sadhu hrudara' or sadhu hruddhara(ie. sadhu+hrud+uddhara)
v) line No.11. is it 'apaara jooda karaaya' or 'apaara sootha karaaya

Radhe Krishna
Hariharan.
