tAnam singing

Can someone provide the technical details of tAnam singing.
As rasikas, what should we be looking for in terms of what makes one tAnam recital better than another?

If this topic has been covered before, provide a pointer please.
Also, if anyone has recordings of good examples of tAnam, please upload.

About six years ago, I played hookie from work to attend a week-long workshop conducted by Smt. R. Vedavalli on this subject - and I enjoyed every minute of it!! Towards the end of the workshop, she surprised us one morning by playing a recording of her guru Sri. Mudikondaan Venkatrama Iyer singing tanam in Sankarabharanam... it was mind blowing to say the least.. Of course I couldn't contain myself and asked to hear it again.. Not only did she oblige but went on to add that she had yet another recording of her gurunaathar singing tanam in Shanmukhapriya... Just thought this would be of interest to Chennaites who want to make the pilgrimage!

i remember a lec-dem at MA mini during the morning of some season. iirc 2004. VR was chairing the session i guess...

Smt R Vedavalli gave an amazing lec-dem on tAnam singing with Smt R Ramani on the vINai accompanying her.

she did mention of these tapes but dint play them.
