Violin practice in peace

Accidentally bumped into the site: http://endolith.com/wordpress/2007/10/1 ... ic-violin/ . Could be useful to many a violinist hoping for noiseless practice during nights. The piezo transducer can be fixed to the side of the bridge post instead of how it is shown in the site. The electronics can be skipped and the piezo plugged to the input to your amplifier system with headphones. With duck tape stuck across the acoustic chamber of your violin, you are on for practice deep into the night without incurring the chagrin of your neighbors. Take care while removing the duck tape when you want to use the violin in regular mode. Thought I could share this if someone is in the same plight as me.

And so that longest living cartoon in Deepavali Bumper Issues of kannada magazines can be confined to History.I have seen them from my child hood days , still going strong , in recent years.
THE CARTOON which shows a Police team at the door of a house , with a bewildered chap(violin in hand) answering the doorbell, and the Inspector demanding
Now where is that Murder of Kalyani taking place. We recieved a SOS from your neighbour

VIOLIN.
What an instrument ! Pure Bliss in the Hands of a master. And in the hands of a beginner....

Ears of the Angels By Diana Spear
From the Preface
Part 1 which I picked up, has been a wonderful choice to read on my up and down trip on mumbai-Pune expressway.
Ears of the Angels By Diana Spear
From the Preface
book can be purchased online at www.singing-woods.orgAfter many years of working as a professional violin maker , I felt drawn.......
.... Part I -Closer to the Music- is the story of how I learned to bring about more harmony of vibration ,first using innovative physical methods on Violins ....
... As the instruments were teaching me that I really was altering resonance with thought, I learned to recognise accoustical transformation with an inner sense- a kind of "felt" sound .....
......... The most important listening I do is with the Ears of the Angels.
Part 2 -Working in the world of matter-is a detailed description of those innovative PHYSICAL methods I developed for changing he quality and carry power of violins........

Brilliant VG....I remember reading an article in RD some years years ago about a pianist and his parrot. Every time he played the piano, the bird would perch on the top of the piano and keep repeating " how lovely" !! ..
Arasi, as for anna, he was always the perfectionist...I remember our early days of playing/practising together...he will patiently teach me the korvais, how to and where to start the korvais in the case of arai eduppu or 3/4 eduppu and if I do not get it right after upteen times, the pullu kattai used to fly at my face along with the choicest adjectives about the state of my mind !!
