Ragavan and team presented a very nice, enjoyable concert.

Here are a list of items he presented - I may have forgotten a few items, and the order may not be right.

1. aiyyanai narasimhanai - varNa in bilahari - his own composition

The ettugade swaras were very catchy, and out of ordinary. The rAga mudre appeard in the charaNa as "ahO! bila harinArAyaNa!" ; The composition was on Narasimha of Ahobilam

2. natagaja simhA (?) - simhEndra madhyama - composition of Dr BMK

This is a nice composition which I had never heard before.

3. narasimha mAmamva - Arabhi - Swathi TirunAL

4. SrI nArasimha mAm pAhi - phalamanjari - Tyagaraja composition

Ragavan sang a nice AlApane for this somewhat rarely heard rAga.

5. simha rUpa dEvA - kAmbhOji (Main) An adaptation of Purandara dAsa's simharUpanAdE, by Dr BMK

(even though an adaptation, inspired seems the right word).

6. A verse from Tiruppavai, followed by Purandara dAsa's ranga bArO narasinga bArO in rAgamAlike

The shlOka was sung very nicely - The verse and the dEvaranAma was in mAnd, kalAvati, sindhu bhairavi and basant bahAr.

7. narasimha Agaccha - mOhana - MD

8. rangana nODire - nAdanAmakriya - PurandaradAsa

8. A pAsuram(?) in manirangu

9. mangaLam

In posting No.3 above shouldn't the krithi be narasimha Agachcha ( come narasihma) and not narasihma magachcha ( Don't go narasihma ) ?

Ramakriya,
The tiuppAvai would have been mAri malai muzhinjil mannik kiDandurangum SIriya Singam aRivuTRut tI vizhittu--the essence of narasmhA...

No. #3 is narasimha mAmava in Arabhi, of Swathi TirunAL. Ragavan also sang narasimha Agaccha in mOhana.

Ramakriya: I was referring to the POST #3 of Balusatya ( second song) and not the third song in your post #6 !

rAmakriya,

The BMK simhEndramadhyamam composition should be maragata simhAsana narasimhA.

Was the pAsuram ADi ADi aga magizhndu (nammAzhvAr) or ankangyAlamanja (tirumangaiyAzhvAr on ahObilam)?

Thanks Ksrimech. Yes, indeed it was marakata simhAsana narasimha.

I don't remember which one it was. Ragavan mentioned that the manirangu was tuned by Sri ARI. I can ask him about this.

Then the maNirangu pAsuram should be mAri malai muzhainjil (pasuram 23) for item 9. I don't think he tuned any other pasuram in that rAgam. (Arasi already mentioned it). I'm trying to see if I can place another pasuram in tiruppAvai with reference to narasimhar for viruttam in item 6.
1. mArgazhi tingaL - pAsuram 1 (yasOdai iLam singam)
2. puLLin vAy kInDAnai - pasuram 13 (pollA arakkanai kiLLikaLaindAnai)
