I am posting the first file from the above - This has been recited by Krishna Premi's school - I think the reciter is the son of Anna.

Kindly confirm if you would like to receive more of these.

The shlokas flow like a torrent. Subtle points are discussed.
What happened to Balakandam?
let us proceed systematically!

CML

I would have preferred it that way too - but I currently have what I am uploading. If at a later date I get Balakandam and others I will upload the same too for your hearing pleasure.

Meanwhile, Please continue to patronize what I am able to contribute, please?

Thanx a million

NB I also have Pushkar Bhagavatham by Anna which also I propose to upload sometime in June/July

Dear Param,

Can u please upload them on savefile or some other hosting site which will help us download multiple files. The problem with rapidshare as u know, is that it allows u to download only one file at a time and one has to wait for 77 mins before one could download the next.

thank you

Rgds

OOh! Thanks Param! This is indeed a mammoth job.
Folks
If you know sanskrit listen to these with the text of valmiki ramayana at hand. Then you can follow the interpretations shloka by shloka which is quite nice!

he almost narrates the shloka followed by the meaning succinctly. It will be great to have the printout from the valmikiramayana net (the ref you cited!

One small correction please

Instead of mOrE - read as mOhE - in the first, second and third line.

mOhE would not be grammatically correct I think. mOhE is mujhE while mOrE is mErE. Recall the song from lamhE "mOhE chEDO nA nanda kI lAlA"

Well in that case, why not substitute it by mArO

mOrE is also quite poetic as in mOrA manvA. mArO is rAjAsthAni folk version I guess. I will leave it to Ravi to say which is better.

DRS,
I agree.
mOhE is mujhE...it could also mean 'intoxicated' (remember that song from mIrA - yAd AvE, yAd AvE brindAvan, kI mangal lIlA - there is a line there that goes - mOhE tO brij lAlan lalnA).
mArO did not seem to fit - and you are right again, it is rAjasthAnI - that is why the princess of mEwAr used it - 'mArO sAnwarA giridhArI'

No problem really. But i wish you could get including 109. In fact chapters 108 and 109 (known as Jabalivada) are known for the justification of atheism (some think they are introduced by the buddhists).

Enjoy a relaxing May Day!

while you are right about jAbALivAda, these 2 sargas are not so much a justification of athies but rather a refutation of athiesm. jAbAli tries to forward his nAstikavAda but rAma dismisses it forthwit. And I think it(At least parts) may actually be an interpolation by anti-buddhists rather than buddhists. I say this because there is a verse which derides buddha. No buddhist would have put that in. There is no doubt tha at least this SlOka is a later interpolation as buddha came much much later than rAma.

yathA hi cOraH sa tathA hi buddhaH |
tathAgatam naAstikamatra viddhi |
tasmaAddhi yaH SankyatamaH prajAnAm |
na nAsti kEnAbhimukhO budhaH syAt ||( ayOdhyA kANDa, 109-34 )

Precisely! I want to know how 'aNNa' handles the issue! We may discuss it elsewhere after the sarga is posted!

Please post 108A if you have and will be much obliged if post 109 if ever you get it. His discussion of Jabalivada tying it to Omar Khayam is very interesting and I look forward to getting the complete discussion if possible. I am enjoying the other sarggas too since he is following the valmiki Ramayana verbatim!

Just as a helpful hint, external hard drives are notorious for going bad. Their failure rates are high. I am currently struggling to recover 90 Gig of data from an external hard drive that has gone bad after 8 months. It is not completely dead but goes nuts very frequently.

External DVD writer prices and blank DVD prices have come down a lot. After this experience with the hard disk, the significance of having a DVD backup hit me home. So, I bought an external DVD writer recently for less than $100 bucks. You can pick up 100 blanks for around $20. This is in the U.S., mileage may vary elsewhere. Converting avi video to DVD video is still a major pain but just storing 4.8 GIG on one disk as data is a piece of cake.

CML,

I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for this - I can very well imagine the kind of feelings that might be passing your mind. The moment I get it, I will upload it and inform you immediately - both here and by e-mail which I guess is (email link removed to protect member's privacy) - I hope I am right ;)

Param-ji,

Yes you are right, but I had to remove the email link of CML from your post to make sure it is not misused by others. I'm sure you wont mistake me. Thanks.
