This talk of Veenai teachers reminded me of my childhood - my Veenai teacher was a lovely old Anglo-Indian lady called Mrs. Charles. She also happened to be the kindergarten teacher at the school I used to go to - Vidya Mandir in Mylapore.
The amazing thing about her was that she had the first floor of her house converted into one big hall with about twenty Veenais placed around the periphery. Her own Veenai was at the head of the class and behind her was a huge, and I mean really huge, picture of Saraswati leaning against the wall with a few kilos of flowers at its base and two big kutthu-vilakkus. She used to do puja everyday to Saraswati before teaching the first class of the day.
And she was a wonderful and patient teacher and played beautifully.
Cheers
P.S. Ganesh Mourthy, it is not a good idea to give out your email address openly in a forum. It will be harvested by spammers and other malcontents. The best way would have been to send sbala a private message with your email address.
