Dear All,
As one of the disciples of mami, I thank you all for lending the much wanted emotional support at this moment. It is an irrepairable loss and every moment we spent with mami will be fresh in our memories forever. We are still unable to comprehend with the bitter fact that we would be seeing mami again. We only feel that she is just unwell and taking some rest and next week we will be with her for routine classes. Whenever she points out mistakes during our classes, she used to say "I am rude only to be kind to you" with a twinkle in her eye. But now we feel that she has been so kind to us only to be rude to us by leaving us behind.
IT IS RARE TO SEE A "HUMAN BEING" LIKE MAMI.
Uthra Balaji.

sulOcana mAmi was known to be a very kind but uncompromising teacher, music educator, also commentator and authored many articles in musical publications as well as information for inlay cards of casettes and CDs. May this wonderful peron's soul rest in piece.

Sulochana Maami has enriched carnatic music so much so her passing away is an irreparable loss to the world of carnatic music. An eminent musicologist who was known for her ever smiling and charming face and she had a kind word for everyone. I am a student of Vasanthakumar Sir and when I heard the news yesterday I couldn't believe that she is no more and we will never get to see or hear students singing in front of Maami. The Mudhakaratha Mothagam with which the music classes commence used to set the right environment and ambience. Now where will we see her again. Where will we again have the students singing in front of Maami. I was just visualising yesterday maami sitting cross legged on the chair and instructing the students to sing. This has become history now and a thing of the past.
But I sincerely feel she has not gone anywhere, she is there in all our hearts, she is there in the heart of every dear student and well wisher.
She has attained the lotus feet of the lord and her bountiful blessings are there for us forever.
With much grief and deepest condolences
Kishore

My sincere condolences on the passing of an excellent CM exponent and musicologist.
I also request admins to start an Obituaries thread. While death (expiration of present bodily form, or "dEhAnt") is an inevitable consequence of samsAra, it is also of importance to keep track of it, preferably in one place, so that the past exponents of note can be enshrined therein.
Best Wishes,
SR
