Ravi: As you say, quite an enjoyable presentation by the swamiji.

I did not do a comparison, but has he changed the lyrics enough for you to wonder if it is Swamiji's original composition?

The defense parts of Swami is in Bilahari which seems to be a better choice from a 'rasa' pov than Mohanam as mentioned in that Karnatik.com page. But I have never heard the defense part of it before, in Mohanam or in any other raga, so I do not have a basis for comparison.

Edit: On another glance, I can not even map to the Charanam that is close enough...

This is the original caraNam (in mOhanam) from OVK's illai illai illai ammA...you can compare it to the svAmI's bilahari caraNam:

In fact the svamigaL has sung the original as such. I have heard a recording about 8 years ago!
