i have been reading the hindu music page for quite some time this season.i find this almost correct that no singer has been properly appreciated.everybody are commented and criticized.and some indirectly even rudely criticized in words which are shaped as if they are polite.

and the people also are commenting loudly enough about singers and even composers(i heard one mama talking yesterday behind me saying ellorum thyagarajara kattindu maaradikkaraanga meaning everybody is sticking only with thyagarajaswamy).should'nt we think that for once we should not opinionate others and keep our opinions to ourselves.if we say something like this singer is not good we can say it like i don't like him instead can't we.because its already created a disease of bias and morover i would like the answer to the most important question.

DO YOU THINK THYAGARAJASWAMY AND THE TRINITY COMPOSERS WOULD HAVE REMAINED FIRM WITH BHAKTI OR WOULD HAVE MERGED WITH THE OCEAN OF MUSIC COMPETITION IF THEY LIVED TODAY?
no offense to members of theforum just being plain and outspoken without any wrong intentions.

CM has to grow up! This is not a reflection on the pioneering service of Trinity who laid the Foundations of CM. The latter half of 20th century did see some innovations in CM with vaggeyakaras like HMB, svAti, P Sivan, P Thooran, ... being recognized and brought to lime light. There are other talented vaggeyakara who compose (have composed) top-class CM but nobody pays attention to those compositions. A singer today tries to play it safe which is to serve just the old wine- not even in a new bottle. At least the instrumentalists are breaking barriers and innovating adding new experiences in CM. Rasikas have to be more enlightened regarding CM and show appreciation of new vaggeyakara when only the peformerrs will take note in this commercial era. The 'music teachers' also have to change their attitude and start teaching new kritis outside of the Trinity and bhakti oriented ones! If not

I wish they wouldn't. Spoils the concert. Nothing but bad manners.

ellorum thyagarajara kattindu maaradikkaraanga
babaji,
Have you seen the movie 'Rudali' (Hindi)? In our country there is set of people who are paid weepers over the dead-body. In Tamil, they are called 'kUlikku mAraDikkiravanga'. These 'mAmA's have, probably, come across only such variety of people.

Also 'mAmA' has a special meaning in Tamil - movie 'tillAnA mOhanAmbAL' variety. Probably these 'mAmAs' have lost their business due to increased awareness of Rasikas.
