Ms Narthaki Nataraj - A Brief Profile
Ms Narthaki Nataraj, is one of the very few leading Bharatanatyam artists in India today who has made it to the "Top Grade" artist Status in Doordharshan. She is a receipient of Kalaimani award from Govt. of Tamilnadu and a Fellowship awardee of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Every year she performs in prestigious sabhas and cultural organizations in India . She had also conducted performances and workshops in USA , UK , Norway and Switzerland .
Ms Narthaki is a direct disciple of Shri K P Kittappa Pillai (from the Tanjore Quartets family who are the fathers of Bharatanatyam) and learnt 14 years in gurukul under him. She is a master of ancient Tanjore style as practiced in 17 century Temples in Tamilnadu and specializes in rare compositions from this period.
Ms Narthaki is a master of "Bhava" and had made many people cry during her performances. She also maintains the pristine purity and divinity of this ancient art, whose original purpose was not entertainment, but to feel and experience GOD.
