nauka caritam CD: Sri Trichur V. Ramachandran sings the roles of krishNa and the sutradhAri, while the roles of the gOpIs are sung by his wife Smt. Charumati Ramachandran, and her students Smt. Lakshmi Rangarajan and Kum. Subhashri Ramachandran (their daughter). Subhashri I heard is now learning from Smt. DKP - her lineage will be fabulous - confluence of the paddhatIs of Sri GNB, Smt. MLV and now DKP! This cd has been produced by a French producer and distributed by and English company IIRC.
nauka caritam VCD/DVD: As SrI Dhananjayan says, it is a nATyam (not ballet) choreographed by Smt. Rhadha for DD. The roles of the gOpIs are danced by Smt. Rhadha, Sangita Vasudevan, Pavitra Srinivasan and Sumitra and Sunanda Vijayaraghavan (Vijayaraghavan is their maiden name) and these sisters are neices of our forum member Arasi. Sumitra Nitin (nee Vijayaraghavan), a professional musician, has sung Arasi's compositions. The vocals for the nATyam are Smt Sujatha Vijayaraghavan (Sunanda and Sumitra's mother), Smt. Kanakadurga and Sunanda Vijayaraghavan.
Both are excellent buys. The booklet that accompanies the CD is very informative (in both French and English), while the nATyam is truly a drishya kAvyam - makes the music into a visual experience.
