Friends,
The next concert is by Prasanna Venkatraman and Party at Nungambakkam Seva Samajam on Dec 24, 2007. The concert starts at 5 pm

Nungambakkam Seva Samajam is in the narrow street before the Nungambakkam Police station, The street will have a lot of flower shops. As you drive in this street, you will cross a temple and the location is 2 houses from the temple.

I will check with Prasanna and post the name of the accompanists.

Directions to come for concert:

If you are coming from Gemini:
-----------------------------------------
1. As you drive past Landmark and Taj Coromandal hotel in nungambakkam high road, you have to take a left after a bus stop. That road is krishnammA road which is adjacent to Louis Phillipe showroom.

2. As you drive in krishnamma road till the end you have to take a left and then a quick right . That right is noor veeraswamy lane , where in that road there are 3 temples.

3. In the noor veeraswamy lane , you will find this hall as the third building in the right.

It is better that you try and park your vehicle in Krishnamma road, it is impossible to park in the narrow lane of noor veeraswamy lane.

If you are taking a bus get down at the Income tax office bus stop which is inbetween gemini and sterling road bus stops(for whiteboard bus commuters).

If you are coming from valluvarkottam high road or sterling road :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.You have to take a road adjacent to Nungambakkam police station, The road will get narrowed as noor veeraswamy lane and you will find a perumAl temple in the left and from there the third building is this hall.

If you are taking a bus you can alight down at Nungambakkam Police station or sterling road bus stop and walk upto Nungambakkam police station and take the adjacent road.

krishnamma road.. that rings a bell.. the name has a nice story...

krishnamachari dropped the chari in his name, when the govt decided to remove the caste names in the names of people. however they chose to rechristen him with an extra 'm'. Instead of calling him krishna, they call him krishnamma.. poor krishnamachari.. eh.. sorry.. ooops.... krishnamma..

Is this really a 5.00pm start?

I don't mind being an hour early, but if Smt. Nick comes with me she hates sitting around for a long time before the concert starts!

What a concert? The boy is excellent..a definite star in the making. Charumathi is also very good. We all know fairly seasoned Ganapathy Raman. I should again thank Coolkarni for suggesting Prasanna and team.
I guess Rajeshnat will give his comments with the concert list
Thanks
Shyam

It was a brilliant concert by the youngsters with excellent percussion support. I always liked Prasanna and he has all the qualities to graduate to the big league. The venue was also very nice. Thanks Mantra!

Pity I had to leave halfway - my sister was flying back that day. As Bala and Mantra note, a brilliant concert from a highly talented team. Prasasnna is one of our best future hopes. Do hope he chooses CM over Software or the US - he certainly has good examples to emulate there! Charulatha is quickly emerging as a favourite violinist and it was easy to see why. As for Ganapathyraman, I suppose both the youngters, as well as the audience, were fortunate to have such a seasoned pro playing for them...

Pity about the poor attendance but being a festival day it was only to be expected. I am sure the uploads will receive a better response...I will wait for Rajesh's diligent reporting for all the details. Meanwhile here is my album updated with pics from the concert.

I did find out that Prasanna is working in the software industry and I welcome him with open arms. Rest assured, the company he works for will support his aspirations in carnatic music. For starters, it is based in Chennai.

Smt Kalpakam Swaminathan is going to perform with the accompaniment of a violin as well.

Smt Padma Shankar is playing violin for this concert. Sri T K Ramachandran is playing the mrudangam.
