Very nice concert at ACC
Start was delayed because of previous concert was going delayed as well I think
Srikantho maatulo -short Shlokam in dhanyasi- started off bit like asaveri - only after she picked the varnam it was confirmed dhanyasi retrospectively
Dhanyasi Pada varnam - nee Indha maayam - papanasam sivan - adi talam - sung v slow pace as a pada varnam - but her clear pronounciation was v good and full of bhaavam made up for the slow pace - she struggled a bit in this varnam and there were a few pauses in between - another varnam 2 speeds usual would have been good but kudos to her for picking this and singing
Muruga Tirumal- harikamboji - n at Karunai kadale and s at pallavi - this was really good and when she started this kruthi everyone was smiling - sung v well - tanjavur Sankara iyer composition
Varugalaamo manji - again sung at a very slow pace -but with lot of bhaavam -
Paripoorna - Poornachandrika - tanjavur Sankara iyer - swarams
Main - poorvikalyani - very nice essay of ragam maybe because this was the only raga alapanai she was able to present because of time issues - alapanai was full of bhaavam and rich in phrases and had some unusual prayogams also - excellence in Shruthi shuddham helped to boost the effect of the raga alapanai even more - during other artiste raga alapanais sometimes there are some empty hollow akaaaram phrases but her alapanai was not like that- all through it was v involved
Gayathri Srivani also did a long and fantastic alapanai and both alaoanais met with thunderous applause from the 30 or so audience in the hall
Because of time issues she sang Indha Paramugam - niraval at Shilayo and swarams also - nicely sung and supported by all on the stage
Tani was really good - mridangam Tani and syllables that sounded like Silayo sounded v nice
Muddu krishna memudam - senchurutti - oothukadu - superbly sung
Thillanna -kalyani- Shruthi bhedam one - Tanom nam taTana- m bala Muralikrishna - sung well - but some of the Shruthi bhedams were not v neat and also did not segue nicely to kalyani- overall the thillanna was good only slight issue here and there
Concert was not boring for even a second - she is a very good professional artiste and should be featured and appreciated more
The poorvikalyani raga alapanai will stay in memory for a long time because of the way it was built , bright singing and the involvement of the artistes
Team work between all artistes was v good - Violin did make a few mistakes here and there but overall supported v well - one of the korvais violin and mridangam could not connect and had to redo it - but that’s okay - happens
