Madurai TN Seshagopalan is certainly a greatest mahavidwan for not just me and many. Personally when Santhanam moved on , for a period of time i only took TVS and TNS. There is always some thing deeply classical about the great TNS sir and certainly many follow as direct disciples or there is a manaseega influence of TNS for sure with either his next generation artists who are born in 1980s to say the latest 2000 plus.
TNS Krishna takes all good things from his appa abundantly and at times the approach also has also few missteps like his father too . The start in valaci valaci varnam was great did he sing all the ragamaliga ragas but I could spot 4 and there was lovely swaras in kambodhi too. TNS Krishna creates lots of openings is singing viruththam and slokham , certainly there is a lot of sahithya anubhavam there. Hamsadhwani and Lord Ganapathi go as a perfect T and krishna did well with p sivan krithi of mooladhara Moorthy. Hamsadhwani usually has a lot of swara patterns and krishna did sing well
Alapana of shurutti with a slokham in shurutti came out well. I liked the slokham more than the alapana , there was a little breath taking sangathis that got into the microphone for this rendition along with angarakam did have a slight letdown . Full throated vocal honesty took over in the neraval and vaidheeswaran kovil was quite before our ears. Swaras were well done . TNS Krishna excels exceptionally well with Lalita and this krithi Nannu Brovu, but it was not so in this concert he did well in parts i felt bit more support from accompanist could have helped.

The fast filler darbar Lochana had good round of swaras but i felt there was a bit of heavy gush in voice feeling ,bit more alignment in shruthi would have helped . The days best was indeed main. Subhapantuvarali came with few torrents of conscious breath taking brighas and i loved it so much. TNS Sir excels in Subhapantuvarali as my mind was unsettled with either sri sathyanarayanam or ennalu oorake (i thought he will not sing RTP ), he picking up a new krithi was lovely. The krithi describes a lot about kanchi and Goddess Kamakshi and possibly kamakoti peetam and karunai purivai was musically crafted so well. At the end of the concert i came to know TNS sir wrote this well done - Great Father Great son combo , i am assuming TNS sir wrote recently and i am not sure if he had sung this in kutcheris .
TNS includes quite a lot of cameo ragamaligas and all of them had the quick turnaround TNS stamp, a little bit of TNS breath taking inside microphone was also felt by me.Slokham ragamaliga in 4 ragas was lovely not very detailed but was in quick session and a nice bhajan came out , i think it is rAgeshri and not BhAgeshri. The concert banner said padhdhati and he ending with a rare utsava sampradaya nagamomu galavani in madhyamavati was well done.
The Violinist Delhi Sundarrajan was caught up with law of averages for sure . There was a very feeble feel and not a melodic tone , may be this hall is not the best and they did not give sufficicent thoughts to adjust the violin . Mrudangist must have missed a upa pakkavadhyam artist for sure , lot of bit low power strokes that too with a little extra gushing voice throw of TNS krishna did not get well. In the main and tani he did justice . Overall bit more support from violinist or the sound system of violin would have helped it better
I saw a seasoned tambura artist and also saw a young kid playing tambura . I am told that the kid was TNS Krishna son.BEst wishes for him to take up music from Venkatavalli(TNS Sir's amma) - TN Seshagopalan - TNS Krishna - next gen kid(name not known yet).
Special shout out to the adroitness of Sashikiran of Carnatica . He has spread from Carnatica tiruvanmiyur to Carnatica mylapore. I wanted to make it one of the few 06 30 PM concert especially one with Trichy Sankaran with VVS in mind , but i had a 7pm slot open . i came close to 10 mins late but valaci valaci in kedara started only after i came in. More concert spreads helped me as a rasika as if there was no 7pm start i would have skipped .
Best wishes for TNS Krishna to roar more with intense music . Many many years back I did not like Maharajapuram Ramachandran when santhanam sir had to move on . But took few years to really know that Ramachandran sings very well . WE also have say legends like VVS and his son vvs murari playing so well, one has to give it to TNS Krishna for his extraordinary paddaanthara thought process in keeping CM intensely classical . The subhapantuvarali karunai puriya tAmadham yEN with this unique krithi of TNS will stay very deep , both ennalu oorake and sri sathyanarayanam i knew thru only TNS .
I want him to be lucky with more acceptance , so many slokhas and viruththams with different GOd and Goddesss should hopefully help. I want also him to announce if he has taken few numbers of TNS , every time he does it this or last few concerts but never tells TNS name . Excessive humility does not work.
Overall a very good to excellent concert for 2 hours and 20 mins
