Akkaria sisters Violin duet
Sai Giridhar Mrudangam
Sri Sundarkumar Kanjira
(R = Ragam ; S = Swaram ; N = Neraval)
1. Kanakaangi Varnam composed by Sornalatha
2. Arabhi R Sri Saraswathi S
3. Kalyani R Biranabrova (left mid-way to get tiffin)
4. Yadukulakamboji R - Swarajati Kamakshi Shyamashastri
5. Eti Yochanalu - Kiranavali Thy Desadi
6. Valaji-Varali Dwiraaga RTP with Swarams in too many raagas
7. Tani with Sornalatha's Konnakol
8. Khamas tillana
9. Mangalam
A wholesome, ethereal Violin duet COMPLETELY ruined due to the following :
1. Sornalatha singing (More of Vocalizing) for Yadukulakamboji Swarajati - up and down mismatched octaves
2. A Tani that Sornalatha hijacked. Both the Vidwans were given about 10 minutes to begin with, and Sornalatha took 7 minutes to present her Konnakkol. Sadly, it was boring and repetitive and had no connection to the percussionists.
Vidwans Sai Giridhar and Sri Sundarkumar just smiled and supported.
Sadly, what could have been a top-class violin duet became a Sornalatha promotion activity as a composer, vocalist, and layam/konnakkol.
Thankfully, Subhalakshmi was splendid and did not indulge in any vocalizing experiments.
I hope they will continue with pure violin concerts and keep all their vocal experiments to the vocal duets they perform (which I am sure have some great music).
