Don't know if this is the right section to post this question. I have heard Guruleka - Sri Tyagaraja's composition. Is there any other song in praise of GURU? If yes, are these songs available online (both lyrics and audio) Thanks in advance. N O Rita

There is a composition by Purandara Dasa with meaningful lyrics, dont know the raaga: Guruvina Gulama naaguvatanaka doraiyedanna mukuthi - MLV has rendered it meolodiously.

Another Kannada language composition starts something like this: Satata Gananathane....

In the krithi Nee chithamu in Dhanyasi, Saint Tyagaraja sees Rama as his Guru.

1.V.Raghanan's Mahakavya on MD'
2.The Shankaracharya of Puri -Sloka on MD.
3.Mysore Vasudevachar-Ragamalika on Dikshidhar.
4.M>B>K> Cintayami Sadatham.
5.Tanjore Quartette-9 songs dedicated to guru.
6.kottiswara Iyer-Devamanohari(ragam).

There are some more compositions that I can add to the above lists. I recently discovered this from Shri Ravikiran's book on Oottukkadu Venkata kavi. OVK has composed a couple of pieces exclusively on Guru, apart from Enna punniyam in reetigowla.

1. Guru padaravindam - Abhogi
2. Sholla mudiyumo - Suruti
3. Guru malaradi - Kharaharapriya
4. Gurukula maniye - Shanmukhapriya
5. Gurunathan varuvaro - Khamach

IIRC, It's a composition of ramaswamy sivan .. And how is it a song in praise of the Guru? I always thought it to be a song in praise of Lord Rama ("Gurunatha" is actually the mudra of the sivan bros)
