Permit me to share a wonderful blog post by Vishnu Vasudev.
Manchala Jagannadha Rao and Angamali Jose
He is writing about an amazing VeeNa player who unfortunately lost his eyesight as a mere boy of five yet rose to great heights playing both CM and HM in VeeNa.
------------
In the same blog, we are reminded of Angamali Jose who played CM in Dilruba

Thanks. The Pantuvarali was a delight. Even as the recording quality is so good, it is still a recording quality of that day and the music is so great! How the plucks are so controlled for mEl kAla svaras! He has a vision for music. Dr Yella's Mridangam is so supportive.

Why Dilruba did not catch on in the South? Well South Indians decided they'd rather feel inferior to the West than those in the North!
