Just because I didn't mention this explicitly in the chaturangiNi thread.
Aro : S R2 G3 M2 P D3 N3 S
Avaro : S N3 D3 P M2 G3 R2 S
What would kalyANi do if it replaced D2 with D3? Answer : chitrAmbari.
At this point, if you've been reading your daily dose of raga trivia, you ought to have guessed that whatever is sung in chaturangiNi these days (and that's not much btw) is usually the linear chitrAmbari only. Of course, soon someone will come out with a historical version and so that's why I needed the other thread.
Anyway, coming to the topic, Maha Vaidyanatha Iyer explored the 72 sampUrna rAgAs in his rAgamAlikA magnum opus, so as and when I find a good recording, I will share it. Second, there was a show on DD by Vedavalli mAmi discussing the 72 ragas of this composition in depth. It must be out there somewhere.
Third, let me introduce you to a musicologist and composer Smt. D. Pattammal, who published the definitive book listing on the rAgAs mentioned in Indian treatises and books, which sums up to a mighty 4000 or so. Most of them are lying unused.

The thing is that D Pattammal is also one of a handful of composers to have composed in the 72 melakarta ragas.
So from her own Youtube channel, her composition in chitrAmbari, with full manodharma treatment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6TPVZn0Xf0 -- the singer I think is Sandeep Narayan.
This is one of the most elaborate renditions of chitrAmbari I could find.

So, is the rAga citrambari (चित्रम्बरि) or citrAmbari (चित्राम्बरि)?
I guess it could be split as citra (चित्र) + ambari (अम्बरि) = one wearing wonderful/colorful garments?

Guys, nice thing to dabble in first thing in the morning, for me.
If Samskrita were to guide us, it would be चित्राम्बरी. Imagine a lovely damsel attired in a lovely saree, with a delightful design.
Last Sunday Ganesh Kumaresh received the Sangeetha Vedanta Dhurina Prashasti in Gayana Samaja. They performed afterwards (Patri and Giridhar Udupa).
They asked the audience to select one of 3 Ris, 3 Gas, 2 Mas, 3 Dhas and 3 Nis with some exclusion criteria. Added Pa and Sa. And landed up with चित्राम्बरी. The Ragam Tanam Pallavi was very well done.
Is the singer in the YouTube Sandeep Narayan? He sings rather well.

His guru sang an RTP in the rAgA in Andover a few years ago.
