bilahari contrasting so much with dEvamanOhari. She seems in sintrionics territory now rather than just sing. Applause. BAK’s return starts very good and sounds more bilaharish. kaNNaith thiRandhu pAr manamE கண்ணைத் திறந்து பார் மனமே

Oh forgot to mention, theme is OVKs thamizh songs for deivath thamizh isai vizhA under the auspices of chaitanya mahAprabhu nAmabhikshA kEndrA

She deserves credit for taking bhairavi and sing it so in a light fashion - vaththakuzhambula vellam pOdalAm; vellathulaye senjA adhu pachchadi. I am not talking about grammatical correctness or proficiency - which for all I know she could be top notch. But this bhairavi sounded a-gravitas to this lay rasika whereas the violin bhairavi had that gravitas.

Few Positives

# Sriranjani has a great flair for thamizh . She intensely reminds both her appa Neyveli and also her paramaguru TNS when she rendered songs like naan enna thavam and neelavAnil

# Her orientation is to always connect with the audience is great . She liberally communicates when many were late she announced even the ragas and krithis that she sang before.

# She even took cymbals and also when she sang govinda govinda radha , a marked departure you can say a bit of Aruna Sayeeram there going bit consciously away from her illustrious appa Neyveli

# Particularly liked her kAnadA alai payUdhE and a great start of devamanOhari.Her emote in neela vaanil in punnAgavarali was very intense and the subsequent viruththam beginning in saveri with assertion of key phrases to bring more raga bhava rasa was a bit of Gayatri of RaGa fame

Few Neutrals or negatives

# I heard in bilahari alapana quite a lot of passing phrases of mohanakalyani. I only hope I am wrong.

# Her bhairavi - Sankark calls it light . I thought it appeared bit light as Ananthakrishnan played a very azhuttamana bhairavi.Blame the excess gAnam on B Ananthakrishnan.

# She liberally misses here and there some sangathis and sancharas . In the start of bhairavi , she missed the start eduppu, liberally smiled and moved on.I prefer she works bit more on steady voice with bit more shruthi steadfastness.

# Taking cymbals and asking crowd to also join encore towards the end in govinda govinda radha mukundA is not my preference.

On Accompanist

I had no idea on the team of accompanists, till i went as in The Hindu the name was not published. I am very happy with this extremely talented ananthakrishnan and Arjun Ganesh. Both of them excelled , Ananthakrishnan is heading in the direction of next S varadarajan. Arjun Ganesh microphone setting was not the best for the first half but he was supporting exceptionally well. The morsing artist did come late due to traffic , but he provided great support and teamed up well

This is a short concert with great accompanist team.I have never been to this sabha but the audience appears as Rama navami Ayodhya Mandapam west mambalam texture. Hall is not best of acoustics but can accommodate crowd. Nice to see cm getting spread in ashoknagar area . They got lovely 2 hours music. Personally I could not make it to mylapore and mambalam by 06 30, this start of 7pm also helps. Sriranjani is a thinking musician - her thoughts are very janaranjakam.

Overall a very good concert for 2 hours and 10 mins inclusive of introduction and post tani speech.
