The Malladi Brothers were in form. The pakkavadyam accentuated their performance - from beginning to end. The mridangam was simply outstanding. So in-sync with the kirtanams, the manodharmam; everything. The alapanas were all heartfelt - none too long. Saveri was the longest, but it was full of emotion. The brothers took a moment after sowrashtram to give the name of the composer; after aTHANa to explain the context and meaning of the song; and a few minutes after durbar to elaborate on tyagaraja swamy's vivid charanam in the song --- a rAmA who does not belong to Sivalokam, VaikunTham or brahmmalOkam. Every word added beauty.
A beautiful concert. It wound down slowly after the 15-minute tani. It was full of peace - that's probably the best word I have to describe how I felt after the concert.
