It’s so sad that a legend passed away.
I remember his awesome kAmbOji - dhEvi nI padhasA…, at krishNa gAna sabhA, 15 years ago. That was the first time I heard him live (Ost provided the vocal support).
I love his UrmikA and vINavAdhini.... His bhajans... AyE giridhara and krishNa kahO.. still rings in my ears...
Our deepest condolences for his family members and sishyas. I pray for his soul to rest in peace.
In the music academy, we kept the thanjAvur shrI vaidhyanAtha Iyer school for percussion closed and told the students about TMT sir and his achievements and paid a homage to him.

Another tremendous loss to the CM fraternity - but his music will live on. I share in erode14's condolences to the family and sishyas.

I too join to offer my condolences. Greatest Vidhwan. As SSK says- we are fortunate to have the taste of CM and appreciate these stalwarts. As Sujatha (writer) writing about Kannadasan in Anandha Vikatan says "By writing the song "Engeyum Eppodum Sangeetham Santhosham, Kannadasan proved the idea of his life. Even after his demise, somewhere, some places and around the world- Kannadasan's songs are being heard". The same-TMT's voice will be heard, somewhere and the CM world will remember him forever...

This is probably a commonly known fact, anyways TMT was endearingly nicknamed "madhyamAvati" tyAgarAjan as he was extremely skilled in rendering this rAga. The rAmakathAsudhA in the links provided by drshrikaanth is wonderful indeed.
I was searching info about TMT this morning and I found the following clip on YouTube. It is a rarely heard krithi of the Tanjore Quartette brothers in tamizh,"kApaduvE unadu bAram" in Anandabhairavi. I'm guessing it was tuned by TMT as the notation appears in his book, "isai malarkkottu." The lady plucking the tambura behind TMT Sir is his shishya, Smt. lakshmi poduvAL from Madurai who has published TMT Sir's books.

The Visweswarans once staged a performance consisting exclusively of only GNB compositions and the reviews were superb. R Visweswaran is also a consummate singer on the stage as well as giving vocal support for Chitra's dance performances.
Coolkarniji: do you have any vocal concert renditions of this artist?(Maybe this needs to be a new thread)
