I see a lot of such interviews of TMK and I do think we will stop discussing about it soon. Just a commonplace. Good or Bad , you have to brand yourself first... Several public appearances, riveting talk , riveting attire and he does all of that . Let us take a break from him and ask him what he has achieved after ..may be 10 years. You never know. But , there is nothing to panic about what he does, I feel. we can either ignore or just wait and watch or can even join in his movement. I can ignore for now and watch after a few years.

And his music , I will always listen, come what may!

Complete rubbish, yes, no doubt. But very comical, you can have an uproarious laugh. I did.

And his music....... reflects the man. Absolute buffoonery. He cannot get the true essence of CM in this lifetime of his.

But, surely he is going to get the SK and the Nobel Prize too. If both are given soon, say next year, then I would expect him to retire from music and start give secular lectures throughout the world a la Amartya Sen. It will be an immortal relief for CM if he stops singing.

@gm... I think we're probably dealing with an old friend here. The air pollution's back.

We live in the land where Ganga is holy though all gutters down its route mingle freely with it and are perhaps its chief tributaries!
(My comment is like tertiary economy. I have not watched the original post video)

Don't bother, you are better off listening to him sing than waste time listening to him speak :)

Didn't sUrdAs have something to say about that? In his composition prabhujI mErE avguN cit na dharO (Oh lord, please do not dwell on my flaws), he says, 'ik nadiya, ik nAr kahAvat mailO nIr bharO, jab milkE dOnu bharan hvai, sursari nAm parO' (there is a river, and then there is stream of dirty water, but when the waters mingle, they still go by the name 'the river of the Gods', aka the gangA)..... ;)

I think I would support him as a politician if it will keep him distracted away from commenting on Carnatic Music :-) He cannot be any worse than the bunch we have.

off-topic: why does someone so hellbent on retaining/retrieving purity of musical notes in ragas (commendably, though), make his Tamil interviews "manipravalam"? Every verb/noun worth anything in his statements is English; Tamil is a filler.
(disclaimer: I haven't watched the video past the initial minutes yet)

Oh come on ! The nation cannot afford to have one more clown. We have enough in the likes of Kejri, Siddhu, mamta, GANDHI etc...

Spare the politics !!

Watched the entire interview. Nothing really objectionable or even disagreeable. May be TMK is becoming more sensitive to who he is hurting!
