Using DVDs and internet media to supplement your dance studies is fine, but they should never be your sole instruction (even if it is live, through a webcam); dance cannot be learned over the internet. There may be people trying to do this, but chances are they aren't very good dancers.
If you live in the U.S., there are plenty of teachers. Try narthaki.com for a listing of them in your area.

Hi Friends, I have made an attempt to spread this art online through videos, photos and explanation. Until I started blogging on bharatanatyam I never knew so many were struggling to learn this art. I got to learn so easily from my neighborhood and realized its value much later in life. So do visit http://onlinebharatanatyam.com and contribute your ideas on this art .
