Recently i heard a song of Sri GNB 'Manasu Rada' rendered by Sandeep Narayan in this raga and i was also intrigued. It's a janya of 29th mela Shankarabharanam. It sounded a bit like combo of Sama and Amrithavarshini (Vasantha) types.

Listening to the song by Sandeep N, I think the arohana - avarohana seem to be S M1 G3 M1 P D S - S N3 D2 M1 G3 R2 S, making it a janya of Shankarabharanam.
The consistent vakra prayoga and the absence of R2 in the Arohana seems to make it very distinct from Gowdamalhar (Sarasamukhi) though the swara set is the same. The avarohanas for both of the ragas are the same.
