Pazhani Vijayalakshmi

Post by CRama »

There was one very good singer who was prominent in the 60s by name Pazhani Vijayalakshmi. She was a disciple of DKP and I have one concert where she has accompanied DKP. I have not heard anything about her in the last 20 years - nor any recording I could lay upon. Today, in the FM Gold Channel in the morning Iniya ragam program, they had relayed Annapoornashtakam and Meenambika Sthothram rendered by this musician. Simply great. Good diction, lovely ragas, leisurely rendition. It may be commercial CD. I have to hunt for the same. Anybody has got more information about this musician or the above recording.

Thanks, Mohan. I haven't heard this song before. She has sung other film songs too.
Sweeter than this one (other seniors might confirm--hasn't she sung some Miss Malini songs?).

C.Rama,
She was composer (and Radio MAma to us--the AIR children's program's all in all!) Guhan's niece.

Arasi - correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't she Sri MMI's student?

Now that you say it, yes, I remember it that way. We have this info somewhere on the forum.
