Glad to inform that the Video on the Life and Work of Manakkal Rangarajan is completed and ready . There is a good chance that this Concert day will be used as an occasion to preview the work .
The video documentary has been supported by a devout rasika of Carnatic music , Mr Padmanabhan from London . Rasikas.org had initially brought these two together which resulted in an invitation to Manakkal Rangarajan to visit UK and perform , a few years ago.

Amshan Kumar has made several documentaries on biographies and rural themes. The most recent of them was on C.V.Raman. He has also directed a feature film titled ‘Oruththi’ (A girl) in 2003 which was shown in the Indian Panorama section of International Film Festival of India, New Delhi. It won the best film of the year award from Government of Pondicherry and participated in several international film festivals. His book ‘Cinema Rasanai’ is a reference book in many Universities in Tamil nadu, Pondicherry and Srilanka.

The day of the preview will be used to look at the scope of repeating this activity for the few more stalwarts of yesteryears who are , forunately , still with us .For the sake of posterity . Interested Members who are willing to participate in such an initiative , can get in touch with Rajesh or myself .

Timing - 6 Pm onwards , until we have a critical mass of listeners.

This program will continue the next day - Jan 6th same venue .
It is proposed to screen and formally release the DVD movie made on Manakkal Rangarajan . Will be a short function , in the spirit of tribute to the Master . Will be followed by a Concert by
Mrs Sangeetha Ayyar of Sydney .
Violin : Yet to be finalised
Mrdangam : Ram Kumar .

Lakshman Ragde will be requested to participate too . He must be on his way to Chennai , by now . This could be another occasion for getting together .

Rest of the program - bonda coffee tea - is being worked out
