The function started at 18 05 hrs. Mr Murali [?] welcomed the gathering. In his address he mentioned that GSM stipulated only two conditions for accepting this Lec Dem.
1. The function should be in NGS only
2. The accompanyings artistes should be Shertalai R. Sivakumar and Thiruvidai marudhur S. Radhakrishnan
3. Thanked Krishnasamy for accepting to felicitate GSM as he has suhrudhayam
4. Golden shawls were offered to Krishnasamy and GSM and othr artistes.
NGS Krishnasamy:
5. His relationship with GSM is for over 50 yrs.
6. He is very well informed on everything pertaining to CM
7. His knowledge is enormous.
8. A Srividhya upasakar and had good rapport and association with Gopalakrishnan
Bhagavathar on sampradhaya Bajan and sangeerthanam
9 Only he can bring out the intricacies of CM with authority.
10 Most of the vidwans do not know the meaning of the kriti. But GSM is different.
11. Once Prof Sambamoorthy wanted D Desigar to offer Foreword for a book to which DD declined
and wanted 6 months time. Within that period he learnt Telugu and read the book in detail and finally he offered.
12 Nowadays more people/ Rasikas are getting attracted by gimmicks in CM and listen to such music only
13. Poor response is felt for listnening genuine and sampradhaya sangeetham.
14. There was no records till 12th century for CM
15. In sundara kandam there is a mention of singing sunadham in 3 sthayees
16 When Ambal nodded her head with a remark of SABASH after listening to Saraswathi's vina ganam,
Saraswathi immediately put down the vina and stopped playing saying that Ambal's voice is very sweet and no use of her playing. Hence the SA PA SA swaram started from Ambal's voice.
17. GSM is a very knowledgeable man and has reference for every statement on his finger tips.

18 He must be thankful to Goddess Meenakshi for his present status.
19 His association with Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar from his 22nd year from 1956 made him understand Bajanai Pathathi fully.

38 The Nama keerthanam is taken a shape as Nama sangeerthanam . At any cost the tradition should
not be changed and tampering with the style should never be attempted
39 Broohi Mukundhethi Rachane Sadasiva [ Suba Panthuvarali ? ]
40 Saint Thyagaraja was 70 yrs younger to Sridhara Ayyavaal and influenced by his creations.
41. Thyagarja's Sanyasa Asrama Namakaranam was Nadha Brhmanandha and his Aradhanai should be
known as above only.
42 Dhyaname varamai Thyagaraja
43 Paramathmudu Vagatheeswari the penatimate song of Thyagaraja
By the time he finished the above song it was 20 15 hrs and I could not further stay and enjoy his programme
My observations.
GSM has very good knowledge and his expertise in Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Sasthram , Pasuram , Thevaram, Thiruvasagam etc were quite evident from his instant quotes supporting his statements. He stopped the sruthi box whenever he explained the krithi. If the sruthi is continued it will be Harikatha. Yes he can perform Harikatha too. The hall was full and as usual with senior Citizens . Film music giant PBS attended the function. The only musician I could locate was Ganesh of Carnatica Bros. If such programmes are arranged during day time will be an added advantage for all. NGS Krishnasamy could not stay as he was having a programme in the main hall and assured he will listen to him from his office through system installed in the office room. The program definitely could not be covered in a day and series of such Lec Dem can be arranged in the morning sessions. I may kindly be excused for poor expression.Lot of photographs were taken and not sure whether there was a camcorder coverage. Kudos to the organisers.

Mr Murali (P N Muralidharan) is the Founder and Managing Trustee of Chennai Fine Arts which organised the programme. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession but runs the organisation out of his passion for music. He is also a Chitravina artiste (disciple of Chitravina Sri. Narasimhan). Chennai Fine Arts is organizing a twelve day music festival starting 21st Dec 2011.
