Quite amazing. The singer also sounds great.

Dumb question: I always thought this dancing on pots/pans etc., is characteristic of Kuchipudi (and this one looks like Kuchipudi to my inexpert eye). But there is atleast one group, the Rama Nataka Nikethan that seems to do Bharatanatyam with pots. We had an amazing performance at Shrutilaya last year, please see

Is this a new concept, or is dancing on pots in Bharatanatyam quite well established?

Sreenadh,
The mud pot dancing is practiced by the dancers of the mELattUr bAni. As they did come to tamizh nAD from AP, it may be the connection between kuccipuDi and this bAni of bharatanATyam.

Amazing stuff by both Purnima and the dancers at the sruthilaya concert. Thanks for the link. A bit circus like, it keeps the audience on the edge with the drama but done with utmost grace. In that sruthilaya concert, I was so focused on the dancer in the middle, I did not even notice when the two dancers on the sides got on top of the pot!!

The pot dancers - Shrutilaya.
(I am yet to watch the other link)

Wow. Elegant and very very devotional, from the moment of securing the pot(s) entering the arena and the actual performance. Graceful, surefooted, agile, with perfect balance and never for a moment did one feel that this was just some show with gymnastics.

Sreenadh, would you have names for these dancers who appeared at Shrutilaya ?

rshankar, of the two front line dancers, the one on the right represents Odissi.
I thought the dance itself may be a combined homage to Katyayani Devi? (the song seems to say this, if I hear right) via the nexus between the odissi-kuchipudi-bharatantyam - what do you think?

Thanks Sreenadh, now if we can match the names to the main pot (center) dancer, I am guessing it is Vineetha Reddy, the youngest ?

The side dancers on the green pot and the other, two front including odissi, to the right? Pl identify.

Looking forward to the remaining uploads of this delightful program.
