Ravi,
Wish someone who was in the audience shares his/her response with us. At its best it would have been a dynamic experience. If not, did it come across as a dress rehearsal sort of thing? At any rate, I welcome new experiments.
I attended an arangETRam of a fourteen year old yesterday and the girl has learnt bharathanatyam for eight years now. The combintion of the following impressed me no end:dedicated (to the Arts) parents, a hard working, energetic student, a young teacher who has given her time and talent in nurturing the student, a competent singer and instumenalists, and a commentator who was lucid and instructive.
On the one hand, an established set of a poet, singer and dancer trying something new; on the other, a child born and brought up somewhere outside India learning her art the old-fashioned way all through her childhood. 'sraddha' was their mantra. It was a process that took years and found expression last evening on that stage...
