Dear brother & sister-members, Just now I have received a letter from South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur that I, being a member of it, have to attend a meeting to be held at Darbar Hall, Rajbhavan, Chennai at 11-30 am on 20-12-2008. Just now I spoke to our brother-member, Kulkarniji also and informed the same. In this connection I am tentatively planning to arrive there on 16th morning and start back in the evening on 22nd. There I shall stay with my disciple Smt. Revathy S.Krishnan, 14, Main Road, Sheshadripuram, Velacheri (Ph:044-22434263,M-9381043208). During this period I am interested in possibly meeting our brother and sister-members there. amsharma

Dear brother-member, Sam Swaminathan, For the time being I do not have any engagement on 7th January and mostly I remain at my home only. Immediately after arriving here if you give me a ring (040-27054232 or M-9908822992) we shall certainly plan to meet. Eagerly waiting to meet my brother, amsharma

Dear brother-member, ganesh_mourthy, Thank you for alerting me in addressing our sister-member, arasi. However, at this old age, I may forget this and address her as usual. amsharma

Dear sister-member, suma, Your son Chi.Sandeep Bharadwaj played Violin well. I am surprised to see his disciplined way of rendering Tala with his right foot. I stay in Chennai on Sunday too. If you are in Chennai try to contact my mobile No.9908822992. If possible I would like to speak to your kid in person at Chennai. amsharma

Thank you for taking time to write a nice note. Sorry Sir, I did not read the message earlier and just came to know when another rasikas member emailed me about this. I would love to bring Sandeep to you and get the words of wisdom and your blessings. I tried calling the number you gave, but there is no answer. So I am passing on my cell number in chennai - 9962685551. Sandeep has another concert this evening, but if you have time, we can come meet you enroute around 3pm. Kindly confirm by phone sir.
Suma

He sought em here*
He sought them there**
He sought those Rasikas everywhere!
Well, not quite everywhere, but I was at *MA just after 9.00, saw Ram, who said people were at **Woodlands, so, after seeking there (did I just miss you people or fail to see you? Sorry, anyway) I went to B. Kannan's concert at NGS. My meeting luck changed there as I met lots of people that I know, but no-one from Rasikas.

Nick, sorry about the mix-up! I think Kji had a last minute change in plans, and we were asked to meet at the Lec-Dem of Sri Sankaran. Mohan was the only one who sat through the lec-dem. Rajani and I had a delightful time catching up and browsing through the books at the stall downstairs in the mini hall. We met Vijay at 9 and walked up to catch a few comments at the end of the lec-dem, and meet up with Mohan. Vijay, Mohan and I went to the main hall to listen to Sri Natarajan, while Rajani took a quick trip back to her home. After a couple of numbers (we did look for you and Arasi there), we decided to meet up with Rajani at Tatvaloka where we were treated to a delightful couple of hours by the team of Sri Vijay Siva, Sri R K Sriram Kumar, Smt. Sukanya and Sri J Vaidyanathan on the DKJ 'bANi', with great reminiscences and a few very well placed audio clips. They discussed DKJ as an artist (a seemingly oxymoronish combination of adventuresomeness grounded in traditionalism) as well DKJ as a guru (very generously giving, caring and nurturing); entertained a few questions from the audience; and concluded with Smt. Sukanya singing a few choice DKJ specials - she was accompanied by Sri R K Sriram Kumar and Sri J. Vaidyanathan. It was a very enjoyable morning, made all the more satisfying by the company!

A pity! Waited in the lobby of Woodlands. Thank goodness, recognized Gobilalitha, so coul say hello to him and his wife and drifted off to the Academy, but did not find anyone of you after the concert!
Cool,
Hope 24th is on! Time , place and venue, please. If not, 'truant boys' is what I would be tempted to call the gang!
Was nice meeting Ram and his father at Vanimahal before his concert. We had to go away elsewhere, so could not stay for the concert.
Vijay,
Now you know there is no Gnanambika in NGS. You may also know that there is a mini one at Vani mahal!

Arasi, Nick and others - this is really such a pity. I do hope we will have a longer meeting - a jam session hopefully, after the 29th. Will miss the 24th meeting.
Vijay Siva (and party) 's lec-dem was thoroughly enjoyable. The book exhibition of Karnatic Music Centre at the MA-Mini Hall was lovely too.

Even going round the mulberry tree in the morning had its benefits. The pseudo gobilalitha and the real gobilalitha had the pleasure of meeting Arasi in person we were almost at the table of New Woodlands to fill up our bellies. But mohan came and took us to NGSabha to hear a top clss veena recital by one sri Kannan, telling that we could have breakfast at NGS canteen . but alas. we found out that it would be open only at 11am. sat with an empty stomach for 2 hours . but enjoyed the veena performance of Kannan,a relative of Padma Subramaniam. gobilalitha

It gets worse!
I was at Kannan's performance too! And we still not encounter each other. Hardly a big audience, too. Now I wish I had put on that pink kurta.
Actually, I wanted to eat there, but my London Sri-Lankan friends whom I encountered wanted to go to Saravana Bhavan.
The dosa I had at NGS the other day, courtesy of Woodlands catering, was the best I have had in a long time!
I think I'm back at NGS, mini hall, tomorrow at 2.00 (have to check the listings). Arasi, your fellow Bangalorian, although London-settled, Balu Raghuraman, will be accompanying A. S. Murali --- it seems he is one brother of A.S Krishnamorthy who played morsing for Kannan today.

Oops, I thought I am unlucky coz I could not attend the meeting since I am in a faraway land on an assignment.
Sounds like the whole thing went chaotic> so all were unlucky???
I guess this thread was started by amsharma for a rendez vous with rasikas. Looks like he's been completely deleted from this thread. not a word uttered by anyone about him?!!!!!!!!!!
