I am looking to buy a new electronic tambura from a standard manufacturer like Radel or Raagini. Any recommendations on a good model?
I already have the the Radel model with two speakers (the model name is 'Saarang') and it is ok. I heard Raagini has a better sound. Is that true? Is there anything else latest in the market? Appreciate any suggestions.

The raagini does have nice tone to it. But, be prepared for some awful quality control related problems.

The first time, I turned my unit on, it just did not work. The replacement unit turned on, but would not turn off. The replacement unit for that worked for a little while but now the volume button is out of whack. You cant turn the unit on with low volume. It cuts off quite often. There is quite a bit of loose contact underneath the volume button.

I have heard other complaints about it changing the pitch changing while in use.

I rememeber the Raagini plays a faint, but discreetly audible Antara Gandharam...if you turn the Madhyamam on you'll notice it

Why don't you purchase a real tambura CD for your shruti?

Isn't a Raagini/Radel way better than a tambura CD even if the CD is very good?

Also, I am looking to connect the electronic tambura to 2 speakers to hear it better from both sides. Tried that with the Radel Saarang model and heard the sound only from one speaker.
I might hear the sound from both speakers in Raagini based on the description here:

I also came across this model called Swarangini digital tanpura. This one specifies it has an 'auxiliary stereo socket':

Wonder which one performs well on speakers too. Any insights from a speakers perspective?

In the above site, I found electronic mridangam.

Has anyone used it? How does it compare with a metronome?
