Balu Satya - please give more details about the KVN/TNS - Hindolam/Gowri manohari? Looks like a fascinating combinations of artistes and ragas!
All the best for the event as well

Bangalore has had such programs before, especially around the new year, and with HM aristes too.
Though not a dawn to dawn concert gala, Carnatica's Tyagaraja festival a couple of years ago lasted all day, and was a great event. Some Chennai musicians took part too. This time, it looks as though they are all from karnataka.
Our fellow member and World Space's G.Ravikiran who sang then, begins the event with Hamsadhvani.
I see Jayamangala Krishnamani's name. A very good singer, a mrudangam player too. Used to dance as well! Hope she accompanies someone as a percussionist.
The names I do not see here of the locals are: Neela Ramgopal, Dr. Satyavathi, Bangalore Sankar, Sumitra Nitin and a few others...

Sounds like an awesome idea. I hope the success of such ventures spread like wildfire to other cities!

Great idea. Why not give the musicians in morning slot, morning raagas and evening slot musicians evening raagas.

Oh! I assumed the first concert was by citravINA Sri Ravikiran, but after reading your take on it, I guess it is our forumite, Sri G. Ravikiran!

Gobilalitha,
I am glad you mentioned her name. I had not heard of her. Yes, Bangalore has many musicians and experts. If I spent more time there, I may get to know their names.
With all the things going on in Bangalore, with a number of artistes speaking the language too, I wonder why no one has picked up the sankEti compositions (let alone the sanskrit ones) of Dr. Shrikaanth. I don't know of any other composer in sankEti. We on the forum know that DRS is gifted in music and composing, not counting all other achievements of his, for a man of his age. It would be nice if his songs are sung in Karnataka, to begin with...

The posts in this thread remind one of Sanjay's recent musings in his blog about great musicians who prefer to stay away from the limelight

It works both ways, Vijay--those who shun the limelight and those whom the limelight refuses to shine on!
