I was just listening to Raja Iyengar's rendition of Jagadoddhaarana. Wow! I was just blown away. If you haven't listened to it, you must, without delay :)

There is, in his full throated singing of Jagadodhaarana, a naturalness and beauty that goes straight to the heart. It was he who set the song to its immortal tune in Kaapi, but listening to him sing it makes you feel he isn't really singing a song, but singing a story :) The harmonium accompaniment makes it even more delightful.

Powerful indeed! If he was the original composer of the tune, that adjective also applies to his musical imagination. The blogger has drawn a very apt parallel with Vasanthrao Deshpande. I too felt the same.
