thanks, this is great stuff. is that chembai,PMI clip in part 1 from the movie which chowdiah made>? or is this an existing alternate video?

Kudos to Latha Menon and all those who made this short possible. The documentary flows naturally, just as Palghat Raghu plays and recollects too.
Such a crisp, yet unpretentious presentation--no unnecessary speeches and the narration of a biography voiced over. I think the the personality of the artiste helps a great deal too, here!
It was great to watch and hear Chembai, hear and see suited up KVN, LJR, and listening to PR's playing for GNB and his dueling with Allah Rakha.
Vintage pictures with the above and more--George Harrison too!
What a great guru he had, and how he glows when he speaks of him! The film captures the generational legacy, both of the guru paramparA and of his own family--with the grandsons.

What year (approximately) is the Chembai clip ? (PMI is quite young!)

i think this is a clip from the film Vaani ( Hindu cites this as year 1943). can someone clarify this?
