I heard that there is a 6 day festival in chennai in July beginning on this topic with very interesting combinations...

On 2nd July, Music Academy features Vijay Siva & T.M.Krishna singing together in a concert @ 6.30pm...

What are the other programs in this series? Very keen to know..

Wow! I would've joined Prashant except that I land up in Mumbai only a day or 2 before.... Do hope it wil find its way into record stores...really rare indeed to find 2 top notch artistes coming together - almost like Federer and Nadal deciding to team up for doubles!
On a more practical note, aren't their sruthis quite different? Of course I am taking "combo" to mean that it will be a "jugalbandhi" rather than one singing after the other...
Junta, photos please!

Sounds like 'one shouldn't miss it if in town' kind of a concert!
Hope there will be more such ones in the future too...

If this is a success, we as a rasika, should request / influence Vijay & Krishna to perform together more often...

Any imaginations, what can go on right, what can go wrong? They are from two different schools - DKP & SSI...

Vijay has normall high pitch compared to Krishna... What shruti they will choose? Will their voice blend, or will it be like jugalbandi??

hari,
Let's wait until the sweet is served! Why 'imagine' anything when they are working on it? I would rather wait for the dessert to arrive at the table than guess what all ingredients have gone into the preparation of it by reading it on the menu board!

Hate to post this but looks like the TMK & Vijay Siva combo concert has been canceled :( News comes courtesy s_hari. I also checked with KGS and the people there have no idea about the concert. The guy manning the office there said there is a concert series in early July whose details he is unaware of.

That is indeed disappointing news. I hope they do sing together on some other occasion.

'pEparle varaNum, tEdi, nEram ellAm sariYA print AgaNum...(it has to appear in the paper, with the date and time printed correctly, hopefully).
Do they put a board out by the front office as soon as they make decisions so that even if the office is closed, you can find the information you need?
I am not saying anything about this particular sabha, but when they think up such interesting programs, don't they want the news to reach all those who would be interested? I say this because, in my experience during the season, I find that there are some organizers who are keen on making the rasikA happy by giving information, being polite and issuing a ticket without any fuss. And, there are others...

Sad that Vijay Siva / T.M.Krishna concert didn't come through. Just wondering how it became public, if it was not announced? Hope we get to hear this combo in near future...July 12th, both of them are signing in Bangalore... Wait, hold your breath, in two different concerts(;-(;-

I heard that Vijay Siva & NSG sang together few years back.. NSG sang thyagaraja compositions and vijay dikshitars... Anyone attended the concert, or has recordings?

IIRC, there was a programme in which they sang the various kritis of Shri MSD, kshetrawise, geographically tracing it to various kshetras.
