Hanumaan Chaalisa -- raagam, please

I've been listening to Smt MS Subbulakshmi's rendering of Hanumaan Chaalisa.

It sounds like Hamsadhwani, but also has "dha" in the descending scale.

Could someone tell me what raagam this is?

From memory, it is in raga dEsh.

Mohan, thanks, but there is no madhyama swara in MSS's version -- probably you are referring to a different version.

The arohana is the same as Hamsadhwani -- S R G P N S

However the avarohana goes something like S N D P G R S, with a downward glide from D to P. The dhaivata is not pronounced specifically, so it gives the raaga a "filmy" flavour ...

Walter Kaufmann, in his book "Ragas of North India" mentions that this raga has both the n3 and r2 as weak notes. MSS has rendered this rAga with utmost perfection. One more piece is the Punjabi Bhajan , "Kahere Bana kojana " by Gurunanak.

The rAga lakShaNa is shown clearly by a commercial recording of Pt. Jasraj. ( At least I could get )

In MSS's rendering, both R2 and N3 are very pronounced in both the aarohana and the avarohana, so this doesn't tie up with Walter Kaufmann's statement. Is Pandit Jasraj's recording available online?
