The TNS School sings it in Chandrakauns. Yes, I too remember Sanjay singing it in Malayamarutham at Indian Fine Arts (if my memory is right) with MA Sundaresan on violin. It was very good with an Alapanai and Swarams.

Isn't there something about controlling the senses (indiriyangaLai venru viTTAi) and subduing ego (enadenra ASaiyai koidu viTTAi) and leading a life of devotion (bhakti Seidu pizhaikka connAi) in the composition 'candiran oLiyil avaLai kaNDEn'? If that is used for a 'romantic' overture, it MUST be deivika kAdal, right?

Yes, the entire concert was superlative - I was hoping it would be recorded and have been hunting for it among the concert CDs by Charsur, no luck so far.Sathej wrote:The TNS School sings it in Chandrakauns. As far as I know, Charsur hasn't released this concert. Concerts at IFAS are not released that often (I may be wrong here). To me, the concert was very good, as I had a chance to listen to Kaddanu Variki after a long long time for main! And post main, the Sindubhairavi Alapanai was very good as well. Infact, was expecting a Pallavi after the considerably detailed Ragam. But the organiser's speech before that, as always, took up time and maybe that didn't leave enough time for a Pallavi and he sang Nijagadasa.
