Rummaging through a battered briefcase a couple of days ago, I found an old newspaper clipping from The Hindu. It is a beautiful write-up in which Smt.DKP talks about her brother and disciple Shri DKJ, shortly after he passed away in January 1991. There are ink blots near the corners of the clipping, but I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.
I have uploaded it here: http://pics.livejournal.com/nivedita_n/pic/0003bq7f

What a tribute!.The words 'He went far beyond me in these aspects' show how proud DKP amma was of her sishya and brother. The concluding lines brought tears in my eyes. Thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot Nivedita,
Great tribute from DKP to her younger brother. Indeed they were the finest Female - Male combination ever to have graced CM , ofcourse , besides being giants in their own rights.

Cannot locate the record of our first meeting with DKP at her home.
I was unexpectedly pushed into the spotlight and before I could blink my eyes , I was sitting next to DKP and finding her so grandmotherlike.Srkris had taken a comfortable seat next to Eswaran.
DKP starts with me in a Whisper
Kulkarni ?? - Vyatyasamana Peru Ache , Carnatic Music ?? Eppadi
Ennoda Pattu Kettirkeya ?
I replied that I was first dumbfounded , two decades ago by an album of an RTP in Jaganmohini, especially the swaras in the latter half -which came like a series of waves and splashing on a rocky shore.
I was not prepared for her response :
Ah !
With Jayarama .. That concert came out well , indeed.Poyitaa..
And I saw just two tear drops struggling to come out and in a flash she was ,smiling , wiping them away and talking about how she still teaches young children.
And some glorious words (from My Dad were reverberating in my mind)
Wrinkles (on a face) are just places where smiles have been
(Sukkallo , Dadda .
Idu Sukhaddu. in Kannada )

That credit should also go to Smt Gowri ramanarayanan!! She is very versatile in both written form and speech .bilahari wrote:This article is so warm, but it is equally intelligent in the manner it combines anecdotes with observations about DKJ. Certainly not a run-of-the-mill vague and wildly effusive tribute. Nivedita, thanks a lot!

Coolji - I think, the recording is incomplete, just 3 songs...There are 9 songs... The link below

Seems that this was in some devi temple (possible that kanchi kamakshi temple?).. Any inputs on when and where it was held?

You are a bit Like Oliver Twist looking deep into Fagin's pockets and getting a rap on the knuckles.
I just spread a small Buffet. You made it a grand banquet with your link.
For DKP Fans , the more the merrier, I guess.
No idea of the occasion , though.
This Fagin does not take notes , while prising out treasures ,out of other people's pockets !!

Well, actually, i was thrilled when i first saw Coolji post containing link to house concert of DKP. When i came home from work, first thing, i played it, and kind of got disappointed that this was the concert i already had in my collection.... Any ways, this is awsome concert, one can hear just the golden voice of the grand lady.
Me and my family are great fans of illustrious brother & sister, and last summer we had a chance to visit Smt DKP in her home.... Can't forget those moments any time...How hospitable she is, how caring she is, how simple she is, how simple the home is... There are many lessons to be learnt for every one... Just a great role model, not only in music, but in all aspects of life..
