I am sure Ramakrishnan will be there in his vINA (mac-note) pustaka dhAri form, all set, with audacity or garageband...:P

Vainika, Ill have to miss it too...and it's such a tragic co-incidence that I get back to town the same night...all the best though! Incidentally the last such thematic concert I heard was by TMK at Sastry Hall in 2001 with Thyagarajaya Namaste in Begada as main.

bharath: since Ramakrishnan mentioned a 'selection of MD's krithis on the deity tyAgarAjA of tiruvArUr', I assumed that krithis outside the vibhakti set would be included. Hence my post.

Either way, Ramakrishnan, please pass on my humble request to Mami to play tyAgarAja mahadhvajArOha if possible - one of the most beautiful krithis in Carnatic Music.

i dint read thro' Sri Ramakrishnan's writing

I only recollect mami telling that it is a programme of tyagaraja vibakti kritis. however, she also mentioned she might include other pieces outside the vibakthi series.

Prashant, I will definitely pass on your request though I'm unsure if mAmi would be able to accommodate it at this point. The last time mAmi played a vibhakti series concert (abhayAmbA, 12+ yrs ago at Sastri Hall) it was spread over two evenings, which is not an option for this one.

If my AppiLL doesn't crash under the weight of the collective expectations, I will try to make a recording ;)

Ramakrishnan,

THAT was awesome! ROFLOL!

So, is you recording application garageband then?

Cool!

Ravi

Usually Audacity, for single step mp3ification.

Ok I do have a recording of Ms. Raagini on the tambura feebly accompanied by various instruments and voices. Hindsight - should've placed the e-tambura on the Other Side.

I tried FFT and noise reduction to reduce the tambura volume in the recording, unsuccessfully. If folks have any other tricks up their sleeve, please let me know and I'd be happy to send the file over.

Alternately, I'll try requesting the organizers to share a recording.

Vainika,
Yes, please! There are a few rAgAs and krutis I haven't heard before. And, how many tyAgarAjAs! My favorite among songs in yadukulakAmhOji nestling among them. Hope the organizers would oblige...
