That's because she is a disciple of none other than Smt ML Vasanthakumari. When she provides vocal support for her guru, you could never tell their voices apart; almost as if they blended together harmoniously.Jayashri wrote:She sounds like an experienced musician with a solid foundation and training.

A wonderful performer with a strong and clear voice, but an awful teacher (in my experience anyway). She was my first Carnatic tutor during her brief stint at SIFAS, and was abrasive and discouraging in class. Of course, it was to my immense pleasure that her classes rarely lasted more than 15 minutes at a stretch, as she would frequently leave to listen to her concert broadcasts on TV or on the radio. But she sure was punctilious about ensuring fees were paid on time and correctly, spending many a lesson patiently counting and recounting wads of cash. She made Carnatic music appear like a mountain nobody except greats like her could climb, and singlehandedly turned me away from it when I was a child, but I've returned a decade later with much better sense (and a much better teacher)!

Thank you all for your responses. I did think that she was MLV's student as her style very closely resembled it. I am glad that doubt was clarified. Does anyone know where to purchase any of her albums with MLV or solo Carnatic Vocal albums. I would be very interested in hearing that. If anyone can let me know, I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.
