It's a nice idea Balu !! (GBL) to have a get togather (at Singapore) of all the forumities and spread the message of divine melody through the RASIKAS FORUM fraternity.I hope the admin. would be pleased to comply with your request.Or alternatively you can post your contact address in this thread with a request FORUMITES to get in touch with you during your stay and fix a date for the proposed " get-to-gather" and have a nice and melodious time.

The following suggestion is put forh for your consideration. BALU !!!
In addition the usual get to gather celeberations , you can also have short music session, in whish all willing
Forumites will participate and at least one song by each fourmite. (or) discussing various aspects of music, including raga alapanai, Sahityas.and any other non-controvertial subjects and the like.
.Even instrumentakists can co-operate with participants and make the event merry and enjoyable.

Hi Balu and other singapore based FORUMITES !!!
I re iterate my original suggestion to have a jam Session , like the one we have already had on POngalday at Vijay' s place, It was an enthralling experience throughout.People have already started expatiating th e proceedings of the gala event at length. The following were the vocal performers.
Mr.Uday (both vocal and Flute), Uday's F-in law (Vocal) Ms.Sivaranjini(vocal) Ms.Mantra (vocal) Sri sundar (vocal) and myself to (vocally dissipate the crowd) !!!
It was a Mr. Nick was the more sing , Uday's father in law and Sundar were at their best on the Kanjira too. Please start doing spade work to carry out the gala event on a grand scale .!!
aS FAR AS i KNOW MOhan can perform can give short concert so also Jananee and I do not how long the list of performers is likely to expand.
Have nice time

yes , ramaraj,I saw the full report in general discussions .must have been a very satisfying day, no amount of thanks to vijay would suffice. your song would have been a veteran's scholarly effort .. replies from the forumites at singpore . still awaited .. have asked the main organizers of rasikas.org for a list of singapore members I DO NOT KNOW WHOM TO APPROACH. BEST WISHES BALU BOBILALITHA

gobilalitha sir, Singapore's own super-mini music festival (organised by Singapore Indian Fine Arts) should be around end of Feb/ early Mar. That would be a good time for the get together. Ramaraj sir, a jam session would be fun as long as I'm just a spectator!

Hallo Bilahari !
Our(KAMALAMBA(MOHAN BALASUBRAHMANIAN) IS AN ARDENT DEVOTEE OF DHIKSHITAR AND HE KNOWS A NUMBER OF KRITIS OF MD, JANANEE IS ALSO A STUDENT OF CM, WHO ALL CAN PRESENT A VERY NEAT AND SHORT CONCERT. .Here, there are no formalities, no rules to be followed, and no Subbudus and SVK s to criticise .You can have discussions about Ragas of CM, ragas of HM and their similarities and variations .
Ah I Ah !! I for got to mention about Mrs(lalitha BALU) w/o Gobilalitha who is a sangeetha vidushi in her own rights. She also knows one or two of my kritis, which she learnt from my sister.

The first thing u have to do is to pool all the information as to the availability of the participants on a convenient day ,,fix the venue, time etc., and proceed with the fun. The success of the function , I am sure is assured, since the spirit of FORUMITES is always rejuvenating .Above all our young man (Balu) will be the driving force, with his knowledge of Hindusthani music, both Classical and lightclassical. What else u need to makethe entire session most entertaining memorable event.

on both counts, i am only 50% fit. my 50%hearing is a cause for daily rifts with lalitha., when she wants to convey something ,she has to shout, but I REACT, why do you shout? INCIDENTALLY, arasi , why can't you come to singapore , as apart of your global trip and bless us . what an awesome gathering it would be iif vageyakara and arasi make the trip gobilalitha

Thank you Gobilalitha for your warm welcome. I would change 'bless us' to 'have fun'! I am not that much of a globe trotter as you think. Consider the aching limbs, and the hearing is not as sharp as it used to be! I am sure you would all have a great time as forumites seem to have wherever they meet.
I do remember meeting your two charming children but missed out on the parents!

After 2 months of planning, a very pleasnt get together was arranged at jananee (vidhya venkat)'s residence on 23/2 evening..five members, jananee (vidhya venkat), gobilalitha(skbalasubramanian), kamalamba(mohan b alasubramanian), bhairavi(vignesh, student from USA) kaapi(ramesh balaraman), guests vani, jayasree, karunA ( mrs mohanbalasubramanian) were present.

jananee, the pleasant host extended a warm welcome .then the musical session was started by jananee, with a prayer in her thin and sweet voice, the song,'sree jagadheeswari durga matha in raag ahir bhairavi, an apt raag for prayer.then other members continued thetrend , by singing excellent kritis.

Thanks Gobilalitha for the report on the event. You children did you proud--by hosting the evening and taking part in the singing (you and your wife too). It is like family meets where you meet like-minded people (though sometimes differing in tastes and opinions). CM binds us and it is great to meet those who belong on the forum and to realize how much of a comradeship exists among us.
kaapi and Bhairavi did not sing their favorite rAgAs, nor did Lalitha lalitha!
