after a litany of posts about good looking artistes . let us move over to good combos?
I see sanjay in association with nagai muralidharan. this brings in then great melodic union and synchronisation. but at the same time the aritistes slowly start imbibing the the patterns of each other.
Say for instance kanyakumari is quite apprehensive about the next blow of sound coming out of Kadri's sax.
kadri is different from sanjay i agree. but i somehow prefer different combinations.
I heard sanjay with M.A.Sundaresan and later with nagaraj. it was amazing.
they bring out different phrases altogether.differnet patterns of brighas. if you keep following sanjays concert with nagai muralidharan you could feel that some amount of repetitiveness in them . one cannot help it.
but with different combinations the usual clishes phrases and disturbed at least to some extent.
So what do you rasikas feel. shoudl there be a same team or go for the otherway. expecting your input.
i have observed this cliched team work with many artisites like trichur, sudha, et al.
it is good for their professional progress and understanding . easy coordination and rapport.
but does not it affect ones technical growth.

The title "concert fixing" gave a negative connotation as immediately our thoughts pervade through "match fixing".
Be that as it may, it is better to have different combinations considering that (a) it throws open opportunities for different artists and (b) there is always a challenge and excitement to them arising out of such combinations. This my humble opinion.

cheers kaumaram for seconding my feeling that combinations is the best as it woud break monotony.
I sometimes feel bored to go to kutchery for reason like i dont want to see the same set of people sitting in the dais.
Sanjay - Nagai muralidharan. rarely gopinath.
Kadri with Kanyakumari. ( one of the boring pairs since they know each others impulses in prayogas)
ravikiran and Akkarai subbulakshmi.
Trichur and MAS
Nithayashree and MAK
Sudha and Skandhasubramanium.
It is almost like a bond or contract. Sorry to say.

Not exactly but close enough...I hear an accompanist latches on to an artiste and grows along with him/her...of course with senior accompanists the revser may be true. I think standard combinations are also good to some extent in the sense that their anticipations enhance the concert. However it should not be too repetitive either. The norm for most artistes is to have 4-5 stock accompanists with the occasional non-standard combination which I think is OK
