I have a feeling that the non-techies and the carnatic community in general will dismiss this from their presence. Still, its some food for thought.

Wow, very nice. An impressive feat indeed. I read the story a few days back and it is great to see the video. Version 2.0 should include gamakam ;)

Wonder how long it will take for the babus in AIR and DD to hear of this.
National mourning days being dreadful, as they are.

just imagine a robot switched on the next occasion, programmed for shubhapanth....
morning to evening.

VK - yes, its an engineering marvel!
kji - I see two things here. One a message to the artistes to become more and more creative rather than play well rehearsed pieces, thereby making the performance more human..Secondly, desist from needless hacks and keep the tradition intact. Once we allow technology to come in, there are no limits. I personally prefer carnatic the "raw" way.

I was just joking.
In the past 8 weeks , I have had the forune of spending

one lovely afternoon with TRS-inviting him to the rasikas Concert ,

Two glorious evenings with Lalgudi Jayaraman, entertaining him with some HM videos / audios and his own duets with some other Giants

and one memorable afternoon with Kalpagam Mami, in the company of Bharath.

Three experiences , each beautiful in its own way, that taught me a great deal about these angels who choose to Pursue Music as a Lifelong Passion.

It was amazing to notice that all the three used to interrrupt their own singing to themselves , when they chose to speak to me.
And I was privy to some startling revelations which gave me a peek into their mind.
This Music is beyond the grasp of most of the talented Human beings , let alone a Robot.
Fortunately we have had the advantage of so many Masters of the craft practising this , all at the same time (for what is 50 years ) , that we tend to,sometimes, take things for granted.

I cannot see a day when a Robot will be made to appreciate listening to Music ..
I will write about my experinces a bit later.

:) . It's quite simple really. Clap everytime some one sings a bhajan or Kurai Ondrum illai or sustained a note for 8 counts.

More seriously, I do get your point. I know very little about all these great vidwans. Your experiences are always an eye-opener. Please keep them coming.
